Walmart never runs out of ideas on how to rob the poor. Prepaid cards indeed!

Anyone who can read and do simple math, can complete a 1040EZ or a 1040A.

Too bad so many have been convinced that they aren't smart enough to complete these
simple tax filing forms.

Well now that I know Wal-mart has an offical web-site for Barack Obama. I will offically stop shopping there. I'm giving a dime to his campaign.

When I was growing up, (60's in NJ), there was a store formatted just like Walmart but it was called "TWO GUYS". They were years ahead of their time in terms of formatting of a Super Center.

It was a huge store, auto dept., food, hobby center, pet department, sporting goods, just like a Walmart is today. It was open for many years but it could not survive in NJ.

The reason it didn't survive in my opinion was because of competition and shopper loyalty.

Foodtown, Shop-rite, Pathmark, A & P, ACME, Safeway, Stop & Shop, Walbaums, ETC. were all open and competed openly with each other. Each of these food chains had their own loyal shoppers. We would occaisionally stray but always come back.

Shoppers and consumer loyalty has eroded and with it the competition to keep shoppers loyal.

Anyone that shopped or shops at Walmart made them what they are today. The consumer, (we), actually put the other stores out of business and lined up at Walmarts check out counters.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

Pretty soon it is likely all we will have is Walmart, Taco Bell and McDonalds.

Just my opinion...

You're right. We had a Two Guys in Massachusetts where I lived. Sorry when they left.

speaking of WMT and taxes:

In 2004, Wal-Mart landed the mother-of-all subsidy deals for a mega-distribution center east of Houston. Neither Chambers County nor Baytown, where that facility is located, reported subsidizing this project. Instead, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) spearheaded this Wal-Mart handout. Although not formally part of this study, the sheer size of the Baytown deal demands mention. To reduce its dependence on expensive, clogged shipping ports on the West Coast, Wal-Mart built the largest U.S. distribution center serving a single company in Baytown. This behemoth boasts 4 million square-feet of warehouse space on 474 acres. To dodge property taxes on this complex, Wal-Mart sold it for $100 million to the GLO’s tax-exempt Permanent School Fund, which is leasing it back to Wal-Mart for $238 million over 30 years.

Will those who have been preparing taxes for years, now be able to collect unemployement ,while Wal-Mart destroys another business in America
07:35 PM on 01/09/2012
And just how many jobs will be lost by havink H & R Block and Jackson-Hewitt kiosks located at Walmart? If anything, it looks like those two companies will need to hire MORE people for the sites. Looks like you're just looking for another site to express your hatred towards Walmart. What' the matter? Wouldn't they hire you? Couldn't you even qualify as a greeter?

Please do not equate a reasonable question to you low level of intelligence. My parents owned their own business for 40 years, thanks to Wal-Mart, and their cheap labor it destroyed their business. As for working at Wal-Mart, I'm not fat enough nor am I on your low level of intelligence.

Have a nice day

Those tax return places are just taking money from you. Anybody can fill out any of the forms. All you need is a calculator, your wage statement, and the ability to read and follow the instructions from the IRS. My husband and I work all the forms all three ways ourselves to see the way we can get the most money back. Forget paying someone else to do that for us.

I have never paid anyone to do my taxes I have always done mine and helped hundreds do theirs so they could save some money. There are several gray areas in the tax codes that effect many the whole system puts unneeded stress on people I think it is past time for changing the system . The politicians use the tax laws like they where vise grips on the family jewels

Yes there are a lot of items sold at WalMarts that are made in China, we all know that. WalMart sells a lot of American made goods and foods and employs thousands of Americans also. I go to WalMart when I know their items are cheaper and I can get price matching from the other outlets. I also shop at Safeway because of their Just for U program that saves me a boatload of money. That is what people do when they don't have money to blow on name brand specialty stores. If you don't like walMart don't shop there imo.
As for the team up with H&R Block and JH it's silly, who needs help with the EZ form anyway!

You keep kneeling at the Alter of Cheap Goods and Cheap Labor, BEATRIX, and serve it all the days of your life. That is your choice. Is there any doubt that you will take responsibility for your choice by accepting the consequences, and not blaming whatever segment of the population that is being blamed, when you WAKE UP to the price you have paid?

I don't know what planet you're on but I'm here on planet Earth where Capitalism and Greed rule. We CANNOT (my family) afford to not budget ourselves, unlike most Americans seem to think. We live within our means, hold one $300.00 limit credit card and pay our bills in the next days post after we recieve them.
I don't need any lectures from some pious judgemental blogger on an opinion page so YOU can keep your sanctimonious attitude to yourself. You might try cultivateing some tolerance and understanding that we all walk in our own paths and are just trying to make it through.
FYI I don't shop exclusively at Walmart, I mostly buy part of my groceries and cleaning supplies from them, and you can rest assured I am fully awake
07:24 PM on 01/09/2012
yeah...that's just another way to get you in walmart to spend money.

Hate to break it to you but every business has some kind of hook they need to use to get you to spend in their stores.
04:14 PM on 01/09/2012
Hopefully H&R Block can keep our tax records safe from Walmart's prying eyes.

I love Walmart!!! The prices are great. I bought a lime squeezer once for 95 cents, can’t beat that. When it broke a week later it didn’t matter cause the price is so good I just bought another one. When the second one broke I had enough pieces from both the broken ones to make a third, FREE, lime squeezer that I gave as a gift to my mother for her birthday. Me and my wallet thank you Wallmart!!!

Amazing! Why all the hatred directed at Walmart? If you have a better deal then use it. Shop whereever you want but many here are F'ing Walmart as if they are the big devil in the room. If so many hate Walmart then why are they the most successful big box store in the world?

I do not go there except for a specific item I know is there and I want that item. For me the stores are too large.................I like smaller stores

I shopped at Walmart for many years because I thought it was cheapest, and Walmart wants you to keep thinking that. But over time, they've been jacking their prices up little by little, and now, they're only cheaper on some items, and actually more expensive than other stores on many others. Since I only buy groceries, at Walmart, I decided to do some comparison shopping. The other day, I went to a Target with a grocery inside. I bought the same grocery items I buy at Walmart and actually saved money at Target. Plus, I had a much shorter wait at checkout and the store is more pleasant. Finally I can get ditch Walmart for good.
