You are aware that pic #1 does not contain a biscuit? It's an English muffin which is neither soft or buttery. and McD's sausage biscuit doesn't have cheese and their sausage is salty.

Biscuits are baked, english muffins are toasted. So yes, just like toast, it can sometimes have darker spots on the edges.

I rarely go to McDonalds, never for lunch or dinner. Their breakfast items are their best products (agree about the McGriddles), and because my husband doesn't like pancakes, I get the hotcakes once in a great while at McDonalds. They're pretty good and I don't have to make too many for myself at home.

I'm not much of a fast food guy, but the McGriddle is freaking awesome.

Oh, and that first image is not a sausage biscuit, its a sausage McMuffin.

I used to work at Wendys for a number of years during high school and part of college. The meat in the chili is far from fresh. It's the hamburger patties that were overcooked or missing chunks out of them that couldn't be served. Then it's frozen until it's needed for the chili, then thawed by putting it in a colander under running water and chopped up before being put in the chili.

Jup, no wonder many people who work / have worked at fast food joints refuse to eat over there.

They don't advertise *fresh meat* in the chili. and I see nothing wrong with freezing it until it's needed. People do that at home with leftover you know.

I agree! with you, cyoohoos! The meat may not be fresh off of the grill, but I don't care. Wendy's chili is delicious!!

CHICO'S TACOS
02:08 PM on 01/12/2012
I got food poisoning from Wendy's chili about 7 years ago (it wasn't served up to temperature, and I knew it but didn't think better of it) and the next 48 hours were some of the worst of my life.

But, that was also the last time I ate fast food. And the thought of eating it now just disgusts me.

How much are you paid by the fat food chains to try and make the food sound good? Even with those flowery descriptions some of it sounds quite vomitous.

I was thinking the same thing.. no way can anything from fast food be that good,

I worked for McD's in college. They would leave the drive thru window wide open all day and the place was infested with flies. (Hello, the window is open and you're cooking food in the south???). You would have to sway the flies off the cheese on the assembly tray just to get to a slice or two to put on the burger.

I no longer eat cheese burgers.

regretfully, i have to eat fast food on long trips so it is good to know what my options are. the mcgriddle wasn't too bad and, though it has been decades, the wendys chili is edible with lots of hot sauce. maybe i'll try to the taco bell burrito next.
12:44 PM on 01/12/2012
No you don't!!! :)

I used to say the same thing (I was a long-haul bus driver for a long time) and it took a lot of work, but I literally almost never do fast food places anymore, except for very specific items

If you can manage it I would suggest 'Chipotle' instead of 'Taco Bell'. Fresher ingredients.
02:05 PM on 01/12/2012
Fresher ingredients? Completely different categories. Quick serve vs fast food.

I haven't eaten fast food in years, but am almost always up for chipotle. Calorie city but it's real food.

Wow. All but one of those suggestions are super unhealthy. I had the one healthy option last night. Wendy's chili. It is really good.

The only fast-food item I ever eat - and rarely, perhaps once a year - is the Taco Bell 7 Layer Burrito (no cheese, no sour cream). I wouldn't even consider eating any of the above mentioned items.

Taco Bell uses the lowest grade meat available in fast food . Some dog food is graded higher than Taco Bell . At least Burger King uses 8 percent organic meat in it's burgers .

Good thing thing the 7 layer burrito doesn't have meat on it, then ;-) It's beans, rice, salsa, guac, lettuce.

Taco Bell meat is NAFTA in action. Raised in Canada, cooked in Mexico and reheated right here in the good ol' US of A.
