Volunteer work is not a bad idea. Drug testing by the state is either:
A) Unconstitutional
OR
B "reasonable". That makes "reasonable" mean anything they want it to mean.

If it is reasonable to assume that unemployed people are breaking the law, it is also reasonable to assume you are.

If they can violate your right to privacy in your person for this reason, they can violate the privacy of your home at anytime, with just as much reason.

the new big EAR MARK lets see ......they will ask for millions from the gov.to pay for it ..then spend the money doing other things to make them more money ...what a deal for the unemployed at the expense of the unemployed ........for some reason they just will not realize that if they spent there time creating JOBS they would not have to worry about unemployment

I guess not voting or voting against your own best interest does have consequences. Actually States like South Carolina are playing right into the Democrats hands and will cause the re-election of President Obama. I hope all States attempt to pass these laws so Americans can WAKE the F-up and Vote. The sole reason why America has not progressed more is because of the American people who voted those crazed, evil hearted folks into their elected positions in 2010 mid-terms. They are getting the representation they voted for and deserve. Still think voting doesn't matter, lol.

I would assume, that if one was fired for Using Illegal Drugs? That is about all that can be used.
Extending the UE benefits is at the root of the whole problem
IF we're going to keep Extending it? Then we better start charging More for it- UE Insurance..
rates have to go UP..
Of course, the Republicans will have something to say about that , to protect Business..

So they're unemployed receiving a small amount of money and they want them to use a big portion of that small amount as transportation costs to a job that doesn't pay. Talk about GOP hate.
07:17 AM on 01/13/2012
We must use our votes wisely. Thus, against the ridiculous GOP!

Unemployment is insurance...What next? When someone crashes their car, why don't you make them volunteer at the auto repair shop and strip and paint cars..Make them earn their insurance a second time. Next dumb ideal??

This is completely ridiculous. Republican governors and legislatures are in a race to see who can come up with the most degrading, punitive and humiliating policies and requirments for individuals who have been laid off, as if these people need to be punished for the decisions of their former employers.

They are attempting to treat the unemployed more like slaves and prisoners rather than individuals who have already been humiliated and demoralized because they have lost their means of support.

Maybe its because They Spent the UE Insruance $ already? And they don't have it to pay out?
Who is the Insurance Company that Insuraes UE? Isn't it the STATE Dept of Labor?
Didn't they keep that $ or did they spend it for other things?
Did the Politicans "Borrow it"?
Seems to me, Just do an Audit on where the $ is and where it went 1st..

Cleaning up 8 years of Bush one day at a time

Did everyone catch Republica State Senator Paul Campbell's quote """""It says if you've been out of work six months and there's a job that you are physically and mentally able to do, you have to take it," Campbell said. "And then it says that if you've been out of work for six months, you need to volunteer for 16 hours a week. And whether we make it mandatory or not, I don't know. We've got to look at how federal law here sets with it."""""". So GOP lawmakers are deciding what unemployed Americans HAVE TO DO AND NEED TO DO????!!! It must be wonderful to be all knowing and decide what jobless Americans must do to retrieve benefits that they have already earned when their paychecks were being deducted for unemployment compensation. When South Carolina lawmakers set a policy to undergo drug testing regularly themselves, let's have a conversation when those results get in.

Unemployment insurance covers 26 weeks. The state here is offering money once your unemployment insurance has run out.

Ok this is whats wrong with some of your state and local levewl republicans ; they are under educated for the postion in life they have been lucky enough they find themselves. This is stupid on so many levels . 1st constitutionally , the florida court got it right and worded the response better than I 2nd most employers require a drug test and in my state if you fail to get a job because of a failed drug test you lose your benefits anyway.3rd In a state already strapped for cash thier going to create a whole new program to collect and test urine samples to determine if someone on unemployment is on drugs; how much is that gonna cost? How about leading by example Mr. Bryant you and Ms. Barbour (between trips to France) Drop by say Once a Week and take a drug test to prove your not on Drugs? After all you too draw your income from the taxpayers purse. Thought so .

Let the Republicans Test in SC what they want to do Nationally. Raise Taxes on The Middle Class, Privatize Social Security and Medicare, Eliminate Capital Gains Taxes, No Votes for Seniors Or Minorities Or the Poor, Eliminate Estate Taxes, Privatize the Education System, Roads, Libraries, Fire Departments, Parks and Eliminate ALL regulations. You'd have to build the Berlin Wall to keep people from leaving.
03:23 AM on 01/13/2012
Why don't blue states raise the minimum wage to a living wage? Why doesn't New York tax Wall Street? Why don't Blue states eliminate income inequality in their states by a 100% state income tax over 100,000? Because they have no desire. Those are all things a state government can legally do. There is no income tax in several red states. South Carolina and several other states have no estate tax . SS, Medicare, EPA regulations are federal programs the states can't adjust. Other things you mention like no votes for seniors, minorities, the poor have never been proposed. See republicans do what they say they want to do in the areas they can control. Democrats at the state level could enact income equality for all people in their but they don't and won't. Why not? Are they just trying to get poor people to vote for them by misleading them?
