Heaven forbid they would actually discuss how to be of service to the Country and commit to do the will of the people as opposed to that of GroverN. and those of his ilk.

They can not. They must not be of service to the country. Any positive development out of Washington will reflect well on President Obama. And, since Republican job one has been for the past 3 years, to get that black man out of the White House all positive developments MUST be blocked. That's what filibusters are for.

Good point. And, seriously, I really think heaven is forbidding it....seems more like something that may involve cloven hooves.
06:53 PM on 01/16/2012
The sole STATED purpose of Republicans is to get Obama out of the White House. It is not to do what is good for the country. The people of this country are seeing this and now Republicans are wondering why they are not looked upon favorably? It will only be more obstruction this year as they desperately try to make themselves look relevant.

FOX and Limbaugh, no matter how you spin obstruction, it is still obstruction.

I will say one thing about Christmas Break when I heard Congressman Mica of Florida speak and his smart a** comments on TV about wasting money flying back and forth to DC on my dollar and doing nothing then taking a huge break and letting this country down. His party before this country/

I became an active campaigner again and donated to Obama 2012. Thank Republicans for being a Do nothing Congress.

One of these days, Newark PD will bust down the door of a run-down little walkup, only to find an old man face down in a puddle of cheap βeer. "We didn't know him," the other tenants say. He had no friends. No family ever called. All they ever saw of him, was the dim light of a computer screen.

And here at HP, the Βeej posts will mysteriously end.

This is the GOP bed made by their own hands. Painted themselves in a corner with very little room for movement.

I'm laughing all the way to President Obama's second term, and the political implosion of the GOP in late 2012 Amerrica.

I agree that though the campaign will be a brυtal street brawl, Pres Obama will be re-elected. We need to focus on keeping the Senate, electing Elizabeth Warren, and picking up some House seats.

Oh but they were so "In your FACE, Dems" when they did so well in the mid-terms, weren't they? Since those who were elected back then have FAILED so badly, they don't much care for us being in THEIR faces about it now. And if they would just realize for half a second... we're ALL in the same boat together in this country. We didn't want to see those GOTP candidates elected because we KNEW from what they were saying that their ideas were going to be very bad for this country. We were just trying to prevent it from happening.

Congressional Republicans would NOT have to reel, if they just did the job they were elected to do; instead of trying to put one man out of a job.

Look at the people on HP who admire their kind. Conservatism has become a culture of bullying, with absolute followers abusing the opposition while living in a false reality, created for them by their Party's ρroρaganda masters.

Not unlike certain other historical "movements."

More spunky?
Do they mean that they are just going to say no with a little more whine in their voices?
Or stomp their foot at the same time they say no?

America's greatest lost opportunity will be if Obama loses the presidency. Don't be side tracked by the GOTP dog and pony show, the only president that is presidential enough to be president is our current president.

Obama - 2012, I'm in it.

This week's strategy meeting:
---------------------------------------------------

Boehner: Okay GOP we need to change our strategy. The end of 2011 was a disaster. Any suggestions?

Cantor: We can refuse to extend the payroll tax cut, refuse to agree to raising the debt ceiling, refuse to fund programs, refuse to extend unemployment compensation, not pass the democrats jobs bills.

Boehner: Are you sure? This sounds vaguely familar.

Cantor: No, this is completely different. Last year we disagreed with the democrats. This year we will refuse to cooperate. If we hold our collective breaths, we will ge our way.

Boehner: Great idea. I think we have a winner.

---------------------------------------------------

Moral - It's a different day, yet the GOP still hasn't turned the page. There are no original ideas in the GOP.

Progressive think in logical terms, while conservatives are ruled by their emotions.
I guess that's why they call them "The Pros and Cons."

After the 2004 election I read an article that showed 2 maps, the current electoral map and the confederate map during the civil_war. They were identical, meaning nothing has changed in 145 years and the civil_war never really ended. Republicans still have the mind set that all men (and women) are NOT created equal and they are somehow superior to the lower classes.

If you are on the fence for the upcoming election, do some research and make sure you vote. And always remember that not voting is atomically a vote for the republicans. The lower the voter turnout, the more likely the republicans will win. In 2010, fifty million less people voted than they did in 2008 and the republicans won big time. Don't sit on your tookus in 2012 again!

One thing definitely did change in 145 years ... the south would not have voted Republican after the Civil War. Except possibly for a few Reconstruction cycles. And the Republicans actually did believe that all men were created equal, which had a lot to do with why there was a Civil War.

Just had to defend the Republicans of 145 years ago. Other than that, I feel that it is best to vote Democrat in the absence of any other rational political party. But it would be nice to have another semi-realistic option just to keep them on their toes.

right but that was not the same republican party that we have today. that republican party became the Democratic party and the racist element became the republican party. history is something isn't it!!!
