People from these regions enter this country undocumented, unchecked for health and qualifications and are unassimilated. They bring a host of problems with them not the least of which is the corrupt and brutal culture they just came from.

Yes, they "pick lettuce" but they cost far more to maintain in the various social services they require from the taxpayer. In addition, the jobs they do used to be performed by our own citizens who are now on the dole - a double cost to the taxpayer. And yes, greedy corporations benefit with lower wages but the tax payer more than makes up the difference. Our states and municipalities can no afford to support their own citizens let alone anyone else.

At Thirty Five Mr. Flores has seen more of what a human body looks like after life has left it , than most of those reading this comment . Once more , all of this has happened by his own hands and as it might seem , without any kind of remorse or feelings for those lives that have passed through his fingers. The question is how many Floors are out there and being bred everyday ? And who is responsible for that crop of deadly parasites ? There is an answer and it is as frightening as the condition itself .

Big whoopee - another one capatured, but will this be the last we hear of him? Whatever happened to "la Barbie" - captured months ago? Other big names in the drug cartels? First the headlines of the capture and then - poof - they are never heard of again.

I guess i support the cartels since i puff--420---I guess we need to stop the war on drugs. It has failed. I will continue to support the cartels as long as my government continues this failed policy. Legalize it and then i wont have to purchase from them. Until then, oh well.

Support your local community and buy American from local grow houses...I have heard that if everyone, consumers and business owners, would make a conscious effort to buy at least 5% of our stuff that is made in US, tens of thousands of jobs would be created. Up the % and that would up employment. Recreating a middle class would make things a heck of a lot better.

That is the ideal situation. Pot is not legal even for medical use here in TN. I try to puff only the good stuff. a bit of a pot snob. Some of it is locally grown. I am sure some of it comes from cartels, I dont feel bad at all about it.

Why would anybody buy something that is terrible? You need to take another look for a better source. Mexican quality has increased considerably and is quite decent.

for all you non-violent pot smokers -- 47,000 dead so you can get high. this problem exists because you are weak. There are a dozen posts putting blame on every one else, obviously from stoned people in denial. Dont buy pot and this all stops.

does that apply to people who buy their pot from american growers, or canadian growers? or people that get it legally from california or colorado? the blame goes on the govt, if it was legal, americans would be growing it, and the cartels would not have a customer base

US not the only market in the world. Ironic that there has never been a recorded death solely from smoking this weed, and many useful byproducts, yet so many die and go to jail to sell or buy it. This product is not the first nor the last to be involved in criminal activity with loss of life. Not so long ago we had the Chicago mobs with their trusty Thompson's lighting up the town and relieving people of their blood supply...

America's problem is that there is too much demand for drugs, were once the Colombians to distribute the drug, with the death of Escobar, now the Colombian are only producers , while the Mexicans have a monopoly in the sale. as long as there is demand from America, large quantities of drugs, there will be an offer by the Mexican Mafia. Furthermore, the Mexican government has not addressed this situation with intelligence, not just put more men in the streets, but that the cops are not corrupted by the Mafia, otherwise it is useless

The Mexican government would collapse without the cash revenue supplied by drug sales. Money makes the world go round. Mexican politicians love the green stuff coming back to their country.

Yes...and this "ZOO" is heading north...if we (our liberal policies) allow it to. Execute murderer's and major drug dealer's immediatley...make illegal weapons posession a MAJOR crime...kick out all the illegals and carve a 5 mile wide "no man's land" complete with minefield between Mexico and the U.S. with electirfied fence. Use it as a 24/7 weapons testing area...anything that moves gets zapped.

Let's not forget the millions of illegal aliens from south of the border who are in the United States and are some of the very best customers of the Mexican drug cartels. Dope is a huge part of the Mexican way of life. Has been for many, many decades. And our so called leaders want to create a "path to citizenship" for this group ? I don't go along with that in any way.

It would take more money than we have. Or we could legalize it, tax it and save billions on the drug war, save billions on our prison system, pay for treatment of drug addicts, almost totally eliminate all drug related crime and murders, here and in Mexico. The families saved would increase our productivity exponentially almost instantly. And drug usage would not rise and all this for a natural product that is less harmful to humans than the legal drug of alcohol.

you're talking about marijuana when you say 'natural product', correct? Because I don't think meth is "less harmful" than alcohol. By the way, alcohol is a natural byproduct.
04:16 AM on 01/31/2012
Tell me why this drug trafficking business is not whole scale civil war? The wanton killing by the drug cartel to foster and promote drug trafficking is war. Yes indeed, the Mexican Government needs all the help it can get from the international community to combat this evil.
