If they want to be left alone ,...why are you on the tv ?
11:45 AM on 02/06/2012
You people are disgusting. What principles and morals are you teaching your children. Like they say money talks. I don't watch the show but have heard about it.....just like the Duggards they claim they are christians but making money the way they do is the same way these freaks do it too. Women with such unhealthy demeanor are sick.
11:57 AM on 02/06/2012
You should watch it once. You'll see it's not what people are making it out to be... They are truly good people.

"You people are disgustingĀ...I don't watch the show"
Too funny. At least watch it once, for pity's sake. Then rant away, at your leisure! ;)

I am a little confused, if he is only legally married to one woman how is he committing bigamy? This isnt a lifestyle I could live in, but these are consenting grown ups. Who are we to say its not for them?
12:17 PM on 02/06/2012
Yes they are consenting grown ups with a sick mind.

The Utah statute forbids "cohabiting" with multiple women. This was imposed on Utah by congress as a condition for attaining statehood.

But there's no federal law against polygamy. And since the Lawrence v. Texas decision, state laws based primarily on moral reasoning are susceptible to challenge.

You act like he's the only man with a pen !s. It most likely IS one of the things you listed. Women can get s _#x anywhere.
12:59 PM on 02/06/2012
It isn't he pen!s either. The few times my wife has insisted I "come look at this" at clips, she exclaims over his repulsiveness, which is always a sure sign of attractiveness. Ko-Ko-Kody is dumb; he wanders aimlessly, screwing things up, then primps to look casual while one or more wives fixes things.

Cody and all his sister wive's are ok with me. To each his own. He seems to truly love each wife and child differantly. I wish it would come back to tv. Did any one watch the last show were the baby was born. I cried my eyes out. Bring them back sharon
11:45 AM on 02/06/2012
Yeah, I cried too at the thought of another illigitimate kid for the taxpayers to support.

Lets keep in mind that if we're going to complain about our taxes paying for extra babies then we can't be anti-choice.
11:59 AM on 02/06/2012
I did and I cried as well. I truly love this show and I feel these folks are being criminalized by people who just don't want to open their minds up to a different lifestyle. I'm not pro polygamist nor pro gay but I say to each his own and let them go before God and plead their own case. No one should judge but God.

There is really no reason that having multiple wives or husbands should be against the law. Honestly, who is being hurt by this?

Personally think the Browns are idiots with all the rationalization they do about their chosen lifestyle. But they are not bigamists. There is only one actual legal marriage among them. The rest of the women just choose to hang around. ANYONE can claim to be married, but unless there's a license and a marriage certificate, it's not official, and the state can't do a thing about it. What are they going to do? Prosecute every couple living together outside marriage? Ridiculous.
11:15 AM on 02/06/2012
Personally I could never do this but really it's not my life and I say let them live how they want. The children have no more of less arguements than any other children, there's just a lot more of them. Kody seems to genuinely love the children and if you've watched the show you know that the children speak freely about choosing if they do or don't want this lifestyle for themselves. The "sister wives" speak openly about the adjustment issues and they're just another family. They're not out being a crime family. Let these people live their lives at peace.
11:14 AM on 02/06/2012
This man has one wife and 3 concubines. That's NOT a matter addressesd by the constitution; it is a STATE law. Many of the state laws in Utah, if not most, are based on Mormon fundamentals, and according to those, NO HO'S. And if you are keeping time with a man in the biblical sense and you are not his legal wife, that officially makes you a .... well, you know. It should be found in favor of the STATE, with the plaintiffs paying all legal fees.

Bigamy refers to MARRIAGE to more than one spouse. Since there are no licenses, there is only 1 marriage in this group. The bigamy law doesn't say a word about people living together, or the state would have to prosecute every unwed couple in the state. Ridiculous.

The way that this statute is written, it must apply to them, whether the subsequent marriages were licensed. or not. You must have something called "standing" to be able to challenge a law, i.e., it must apply to you.

These women have nothing to worry about if Mitt Robbed Me is elected President. The Bishop will declare polygamy for the whole country and legislate it into law to honor his granddaddy. By the way the news this morning talks of the double suicide with the man from Utah that obviously killed his wife, blew himself and poor innocent kids up overnight...well another Mormon exercising his religion.

As an atheist, even i think that's a ridiculous claim. People of every religion, and non religion are capable of the atrocity from the man from Utah. It has nothing to do with him being a Mormon, but a domestic violence abuser, and those come in all creeds.

What's interesting is that for the Utah Territory to become a state, several things had to happen.

1. The territory had to outlaw bigamy.
2. The LDS had to renounce bigamy as a teaching of the church.
3. The territory couldn't use the name Deseret, because of the religious reference to the LDS.

So, I find it interesting that a federal judge has qualms about the contistutionality of Utah's bigamy statute, when Utah was required to adopt the statute in order to achieve statehood.

If you look at how bigamy is treated outside of Utah, it's usually reserved for a person who obtains more than one marriage certificate by lying about his or her marital status, especially if the person gets married in several different states.

Certainly, the Browns could argue that no one in California had a legal issue with Hugh Hefner having multiple girlfriends living with him at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. Granted, Hef wasn't married to any of the women, and there were no children, but they were living in the same house.

Actually at the time Hef was still legally married to his now ex-wife. At the time she lived in the Mansion next door with Hef's child. Even though they lived separately for years they had never legally divorced.

In the 1st place, they did NOT move to LV in 2001, I believe it was 2011 or 2010 because they were CHASED OUT OF THE POLYGAMIST COMMUNITY. Even their own kind doesnt want them, what does that tell you?????? Those kids are miserable and jealous of one another and the other "wives", this is sick and disgusting and CHILD ABUSE IMHO.
