Like they can rival the "X-Ray" glasses I bought out of the back of a comic book in 1988!

Just watch: Everybody here will be using them in fifteen years when they strike a deal with sunglass manufacturers. Because that's what we do.

Striving to advance technology one step at a time. First sunglasses, next a surgeons mask to aide in precision. We always start at some point! Go technology!

No disrespect, but I think you're missing the big picture. AR has a wealth of potential benefits including: health care, military, science, education, and yes, "frivolous" entertainment. We didn't just decide to land on the moon one day...innovations like these made that possible and we have to start somewhere. Think B-I-G-G-E-R! :D

Google literally has nothing better to do. Meanwhile we need to have an energy source to replace oil and stop war and such. Y'know, important human things to do. But yeah, go play some games. Ugh.

Yes. Because if Google isn't solving the problems you think it should be solving, then it is valueless. Never mind that whole, "Google's innovation redefined the internet, cell communications, and technology as we know it" thing... If they don't figure out cold fusion then screw 'em.

All of that is well and good, but it makes them little or no money. You forgot to mention their bread and butter, the one thing that pays their bills - advertising, and how to aim it like a homing pigeon to each of us. They made it into a science.

People wonder what comes after smart phones. AR glasses - is the answer.

There are several mega trends ready to pop. ubiquitous computing, big data, narrow ai, real 3d display are all HUGE. AR glasses are just part of that. last i heard they are projected to start getting that big marketing push in the next 3-5 years.

And if America were not mired in 1970's technology and bandwidth, this tech might have a chance. But until the cable monopolies are busted and there is real internet bandwidth competition, the only place these glasses and other tech is likely to be workable is Europe and the pacific rim.

Face it, thanks to Wall Street, America's greatest days are way, way behind her. We're just waiting for the con men and hucksters to cash out and leave us for dead. Vote Romney to see that happen.

but academic astronomers have some next level internet for transmitting super high resolution dome dimension images. perhaps that will be the proper replacement for our 1960s DARPAnet. in the mean time each of the booms ive described is going to be as large as the internet or initial computer boom. so perhaps that will disrupt the cable oligopoly. or reconfigure the space.

I just read the first two sentences...This was my idea again! Came up with it about 2-3 yrs ago after watching a Michio Kaku documentary....although my glasses made everything you see look like a cartoon, it's the same premise. I also had the idea that you can switch to whatever settings you wanted...cartoonworld, terminator world, Tron world, pilsbury dough world....etc....whatever you want to see, just change the setting. Everything looks like whatever you want it to be....create your own world with the flip of a switch. It's coming....yeah I'll say it again...it's coming. hmm I might as well discuss a few of my other inventions, the communitable, and roboman....communitable is a table that sends holographic images from one table to another. You can sit at your kitchen table in NY with grandma from FL and uncle Vito in Italy. You all see holographic images of each other, you can play parcheesi together. Roboman...small 3ft 6inch robot that is remotely controlled. You need a maid, she logs in from her home office and takes over Roboman and cleans the house. You need teh pool cleaned, the pool guy logs in from his office and uses roboman to clean the pool. Your son logs in from college to mow the lawn. Very cool stuff. It's coming soon to a reality near you.....

2-3 years, hmm? This idea's been floating around sci-fi media and engineers' brains for more a couple decades. Hell, Dragon Ball Z has them, and that was the late 80s (20+ years ago).
01:07 PM on 02/09/2012

Like industrial ant hills driver-less vehicles and smart chip technology will over run the country sides and we'll need the terminator to save our butts, when the machines gain consciousness.

Additionally: in a futuristic way with tablets, embedded smart chip technology and advanced routing systems , driver-less cars, are more likely to appear on the road and publicly in the future than terminator glasses are and it is far more practical and useful than brain TV's would be.
