Presumably Penn would have supported the thuggish fascists running Argentina's military junta in the 70s and early 80s who invaded British territory. BTW, there is NO dispute. The Falklands are UK territory. The people are of British origin and speak English. And they have zero desire to become part of the mess that is Argentina. Case closed. As for Kirchner, another anti-democratic regime. Why the Liberals love authoritarianism so much is beyond me.

Its Uk territory for now. White euros take land; white euros can have land taken from them.

Good thought. Remind me again where Kirchner's ancestry is? Oh that's right, European. I'm sure the remaining South American indigents would welcome their land back from her government. While we're at it, let's hand California back to Mexico, and then Penn's Malibu mansion can be occupied by the true owners.

Sorry, but Argentines have that white Euro blood too and a lot of German.

Kirchner..An anti democratic regime?? The only non democracy in Central and South America is Honduras.

Why don't you just move to Haiti, Penn. You are a fool.

I like the work he does in Haiti, but he is wrong on this issue. The Falklanders are English speaking Brits and Argentina has no business trying to change that.

Notice that when someone has a reasonable argument, the "expert" comes out with a personal attack. If Sean Penn has made some turkey movies, that has nothing to do with his opinions about this situation. Keep going Sean. There's nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade!

When I heard that Prince William was headed to the Falklands my first thought was “what will Spicoli make of this?”

Since when is ACTOR Sean Penn a specialist in international diplomatic and military relations? Shut up!
12:37 PM on 02/15/2012
Post your CV and let's see what kind of expertise you have to discuss any issue (I am inclined to assume none).

20 years in the military-industrial complex re weapons systems, broad list of international clientele in the military and government including the USA, policy analysis, ... for starters... no time off for making movies and goofing off in Malibu.

Oh because he just wants to...go look up his credentials and see..:)

I know of his activism. Activism on a few affairs does not make one an expert on international relations between two semi-hostile nations. He knows not of what he speaks re England-Argentina.
11:55 AM on 02/15/2012
Mr. Penn has a high school education, which as an American makes him an expert on all matters.
12:38 PM on 02/15/2012
Some people actually read and get informed beyond high school too (hard to believe I know).
12:51 PM on 02/15/2012
You forgot that he makes movies, was married to Madonna, AND did drugs..which in the liberal world is as good if not better than a doctorate! You better be careful from now on before you insult one of our ambassadors!..:)

Sorry, but Kirchner needs an issue, just as the military junta did in the 1980s. Penn should really study up on the thugs that ran the country in the 1970s and early 80s. Kidnapping political opponents and then throwing them from a plane into the Rio de la Plata? That's the kind of regime he supports? I have lost what little respect I had for this man's politics.

Not to mention that this fatuous claim is based on a geographic proximity that didn't exist until the Argentine had basically subjugated (or murdered) the indigenous people of the Rio Negro and all points south back in the 1870s.
