It's worth trying more than again and again if she can pay or someone pays. Hair follicles often take more than one treatment to die.

Acceptance would be the obvious first step. She seems as well adjusted as the kids around her.

I think she has a great attitude and it's wonderful that other children have accepted her. But the article says that she was NOT accepted until she won a world record! I'm not sure how I feel about the whole thing....yes, she could be an inspiration for others and BRAVO for her outgoing personality....BUT, do we really believe that this child is truly happy? She is accepting it because maybe she thinks there is nothing that can help her to change her appearance! But seriously, don't you think that she would change it if she could? No child, or adult for that matter, would be happy with people making fun of them and staring at them when they pass by. There must be SOMETHING that SOMEONE could do for her to get rid of the hair on her face! If nothi g else, they could cut it down as close as possible and then use a hair removal cream or even shave it! Honestly, even if this sounds shallow, this child could be spared the staring and teasing if someone would do this.

So, anything outside of the norm should be seen as freakish? There are so many levels of wrong in that sort of thought.

It would probably hurt a lot. Also, it might be too expensive for them and the effects might not be permanent.

Very inspiring, but couldn't she just shave her face every day? It would take a while but she shouldn't have to live like that.
10:59 PM on 02/23/2012
When you shave, what happens next? ur hair grows twice as much N' I'd like to think that she really wouldn't like that!

Pretty sure that's a myth. For guys, their body hair and beards steadily increase for their whole lives--just look at old men with hair coming off of every surface. They've never shaved that hair, but it still increases year by year. And look at old men from places where they never shave their beards, they have beards growing up to their eyes despite never shaving them.

I'm sure having hair on her face is much more comfortable than having irritating, painful stubble and razor burn all over her 11-year-old skin.

That's sort of a matter of dermatological comfort versus social comfort isn't it? As a guy, I know shaving blows, but it's necessary to fit in. I sure wouldn't be happy with a beard on my forehead, and I'm not a girl.

Just one of those odd things that happens sometimes. But I am so thankful that she has excepted it and that her classmates have learned that she in just like them - the same concerns, dreams, etc. AND it appears she has a very happy, outgoing personality.
- I wish her the best in all her future plans!
