Wow, I never knew North Korea had so many lights......woops, did I make a geographical error? Silly me……….

If you look at most of these pics ,you would never know there was 7 billion people on earth or any life. By the way these are great pics. Lets see more!

Actually quite the contrary, it's night time on the east coast and those lights are artificial. Approaching Earth at night/side would be the worst give away about the population of the planet...

You know where this is going right...

Incredible. What's up with the blue glow on the station though? Do they just install blue exterior lights to make it ultra creepy? Possibly reflected light from moon or something?

It's a small world from 220 miles up.
This is awesome!
It makes you aware just how much of a speck we are in the vast universe.

Kind of cool how you can see the cities individually.  From north to south on the coast I see NYC, Philly, Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, and Norfolk, though Norfolk seems awfully bright for it's relatively small population compared to the rest of those cities.
11:07 PM on 02/28/2012
Yeah it's cool how you can tell the population density by the amount of light.
11:08 PM on 02/28/2012
Haha, now lets see this on some other planet... THAT would be exciting.

Beautiful! It certainly puts our petty issues about everything into perspective.

Of course we were much lower but that is what it looked like last April when I flew into Paris in the early wee hours. I couldn't dig my camera out in time for this once in a lifetime scene but I knew right away why it was called the "City of Lights"
