Obama is already the President.

i think palin is making it very clear that the reason she couldn't name any news sources she reads with any regularity is because she doesn't read any!! the concept of corporate tax cuts leading to new job generation is a theory based in trickle down economics. it's also a theory that has been pretty decisively disproved by reality and recent events. the fact that she could suggest this is a demonstration that her ticket really is more of the same which is exactly what led us to the disastrous situation we, and the world, find ourselves in now.

159,000 more jobs lost last month. with "logic" (I use the term loosely!) like palin's, who knows where the bottom is?

So many people in 2005 and on tried to get their mortgages refinanced and the banks wouldn't do it and then towards the end of 2006 it started looking bad, but, they still wouldn't do it and by the end of 2007 it was becoming clear that foreclosures were becoming a problem still the banks wouldn't refinance. Now it is just a mess. The banks could have stopped this crisis two years ago, but they were being arrogant and now look what we have.

It cracks me up that McCain says that Obama isn't an "open book" but it's Obama that's not afraid to answer questions after a stump speech! Both he and Palin are scared to talk to anyone that's not a scripted event!

I live in a hardcore red state (Nebraska), and early voting started here last week. I went today and there were lines out the door that stretched about 100 feet outside. Listening to people talk, and counting the candidate buttons and t-shirts, I'd say it was 80% for Obama.

I've never seen anything like it in this state, and I can't help but think (hope) that it's a sign of things to come.

wow. i hope you're right. i live in north carolina, which hasn't gone for a democratic president since jimmy carter and they've just started calling it a swing state. oh, please let this month go by quickly. please please please.

McCain has suspended the economic disaster to focus on his campaign.

I sure am glad we averted any further major losses by passing that ginormous taxpayer-funded bailout package! Whew, what a relief! The Dow will just climb and climb now!
04:29 PM on 10/06/2008
I know! What would have happened if we didn't? Would it have gone up then? I watched a bit of the congressional committee questioning one of the top dogs of some investment bank and his assets and income and those around him - it was disgusting that we are bailing out the economy that these guys have raped dry! I sure hope Obama was telling the truth about going after the creators of this mess!
04:15 PM on 10/06/2008
I also heard that Palin is saying that Obama fathered 2 black children!

Palin and McCain would have to do a heck of a lot more to fix the economy than cut taxes and "pork spending." They just keep repeating that phrase like two stunned moose.

Godspeed Obama & Biden. We really need you!

The US economy is rotting from the inside out…

The housing/mortgage crisis is the epicenter.

.Perhaps with all the foreclosed homes we have here in the US there is a desperate need for an effective formula that is based on a specific area’s salaries, unemployment rate, and location to adjust to a rate that is reasonable with enticements from local municipalities (similar to first time home owner incentives) to get these homes off the market and into the hands of prospective buyers.

That is where I believe we need to focus on, this situation has been apparent for quite some time.

At least some kind of assurance indicating that the so-called “economists” are addressing this fundamental mortgage crisis issue with some kind of “game plan” would go a long way into giving our stock market confidence which it so desperately needs right now.

Palin is not offering a strategy that even remotely addresses this economic disaster nor do I believe she even came up to the conclusions by herself by studying the situation....

When a major political party puts forward candidates who lack the courage, will, and judgment to address the economic crisis all of us are dealing with, then more than the US economy is rotting from the inside out.

I still don't understand why we couldn't take that $700 billion and just pay off the daggone mortgages directly. It would keep folks in their homes, clear the balance sheets of the banks, steady home values, and free up real actual dead presidents (instead of logo laden plastic) that folks could use to spend on things like, oh, I don't know, gas & groceries.

Why we're trying to do this from the top down is just completely beyond me. We're trying to fix a problem using the same strategies that got us into the problem.

Isn't that the definition of insanity?

I really hope Obama lets loose on this debate. Call McSame on every point. Question sharply. Be conversational and debate him as he would an enemy of "the state" which is truly what McSame is--George Bush all over again. We just can't afford them anymore. The republican party has ruined us worse than I imagined was possible.
