Will there be a plotline about Pete losing his hair...?

If they set it in 1954, he'd just be getting his hair. And his baby teeth.

It's possible they want to go back to basics, revisit a classic ad or look at work that someone at SCDP did in that year. I think you're reading too much into it. ;)

Absolutely. Maybe Danny Strong's character returns with a great "new" ad campaign idea.

Time magazine ,the cure for the common read

All of the clothes in the shot with the LIFE magazine are period to 1965-66...right where the show ought to be. Perhaps MW is throwing out a red herring--just to get people talking about the show again after 55X-whatever days since the last season ended? If they were dressed in '50s period clothing and that magazine was on the table, I'd think you might be right about the jump backwards. If anything, perhaps we'll go backwards in time this season through flashbacks to understand the beginning of the relationships at Sterling Cooper (pre-Draper Price)? It was implied in the episode where the British ad exec got his foot cut off with the riding mower when Joan and Don were waiting at the hospital that they *may* have been intimate in the past. Going back to the '50s (1954) for the entire season eliminates too many characters...all of whom are seen in these pix. It's gonna be tough waiting until the 25th, but I think we're going to find the MM characters firmly planted in early 1966.

It might not be MW. IT may be just the publicity photographer who just threw the prop in there.

Perhaps it's there because the ads are examples of their work over the years. You know; ads for their ads.

Good point. Or they simply messed up. It would be stupid for them to go back. Personally I wish they didn't skip years. I don't want to watch the late 60's and early 70's of this show.

Really? I would love to see how the characters react to all the changes between 1967-69. But I think you are more likely to get your wish as this season should be set around 1965 and with only two more seasons, they won't get to the late 60s unless they time jump.

Nope, they didn't mess up. As someone posted up thread, they are rabidly meticulous.

Yes! I've had this theory ever since they cast the seemingly ageless Randee Heller as Mrs. Blankenship and hinted at her colorful past. Can't wait!
