Stay safe out there, all you SoCal folks in range of the fire. I'm just south of LAX and not in danger, but I've got some folks not too far from the fire lines. Be safe and good luck.

Maybe McCain can blame it on Saddam. Say he set it and only a surge can help.

I live about seven miles from this fire off Glenoaks Blvd. People don't realize there are huge mountains within the city limits of Los Angeles. You can see the smoke from Burbank when you drive northeast down Glenoaks Blvd.

The Fire is near Sunland/Tujunga, Lake View Terrace, Sylmar Pacoima Area. It's pretty much the Northeast San Fernando Valley.

I know my sister and her husband had to evacuate and I know that some of my students' homes were burned down.

This is truly devastating!

Anyone know exactly where this fire is? Some of my folks live off the 210. News stories on this fire are so non-specific (as stories on environmental events usually are - what a waste of reporting capacities!).

As far as I can make out, its somewhere near the intersections of the 210, the 118 and the I5.
I wish the news stations would stop using 'Downtown' as a reference - L.A is sooo big.

Somewhere 'near' Little Tujunga Canyon - so definately near the 118/210 intersection.

I was woken up this morning by the smell of smoke, and can actually see it in the air now.
Its a ways away from us here in Van Nuys, but the Santa Anas and the haze in the air is creepy.

I hate fires :-(

This is going to be really devastating for folks who already live in a crippled state. I feel pretty bad for these people.

Crippled? hmmm.... compared to what, Zimbabwe? Try buying a condo in Santa Monica.

I wonder how the McCain Campaign can spin this to be Obama's fault?

"I wonder how the McCain Campaign can spin this to be Obama's fault?"

1. My friends it is the over regulation of fire that causes them to go out of control.

2. Lower taxes mean lower fires my friends.

3. Taking preventive measures to reduce fires is like waving the white flag of surrender.

4. As Governor, Sarah Palin has more experience fighting fires than Joe Biden my friends.

5. I'm an expert on fires. I can practically see fires from here.

LOL!

6. Gov. Palin says "It's a definite sign of the end-times and God's judgment on those sinful Californians for voting Democrat."
