I hope people criticizing Clooney, and people that aren't moved by the atrocities occurring in Sudan/South Sudan, realizes that China gets about 6% of its oil from Sudan, and either due to conflict the oil production in Sudan has been stopped.

That means China has to buy that 6% of its oil on the global market, which also contributes to higher gas  prices for the US.

You are quite right-=-ENGLISH is not my native tong---but my thoughts VIBRATES IN HSMONY WITH ALL THOSE WHO RESPECT THE SANCTITY OF LIFE. QUITE SURE YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF IT. You are upset with my words and probably you feel this criminal HAD reasons to do what he did. We sure have all kinds of people in this world. and I hope there are not many like you/

umm, actually you can't. Peace Corps does not operate in Sudan (or any overly dangerous/risky country) and has been there not since 8 people did in '84-'86.

I wish George Clooney was our President instead of Obama. President Obama is turned out to be a major dissapointment as a leader.

And this is partly because a hugh majority of people remain complacent in the face of such horrors, and are willing to let these things just fade into memory, with an occassional comment added to the end of an article.

"The actor, his father and politicians were protesting the country's blockade of supplies and humanitarian aide."

Damn liberal Hollywood actors -- caring about humanitarian aid to people, improving the world, promoting justice and other bleeding heart things like that.

The overwhelming sense of "it's not our problem" that pervades the comments on this article disturbs me beyond all description. People die by the thousands in Sudan, and we could sure as hell be doing more right now to help.

How can a Hollywood actor, good or bad, get arrested for impersonating a Hollywood actor?

Was this a scene from one of his dreadful movies? I mean really? What would Clooney know about international affairs anyway??? Nothing?? he needs to get back to being a egotistical star that he is dating little girls to make himself feel good! He is a dreadful person and no one takes him seriously. Are we to bail out the entire world? This is why the Dems are losing so many voters they live in a utopia rather than the real world. We cannot save Sudan or Dafur or any other country. I wish he would just go away.
01:19 PM on 03/18/2012
"We cannot save Sudan or Darfur or any other country."
Really? Last I checked, if we stopped blowing off so much money on pointless military interventions and used the money to instead feed and house the poor of the world, we could do a considerably good job of saving other countries. We'll never accomplish anything if we keep saying that we can't do anything. Regardless of what you think of his acting or his politics, Clooney had a good reason to be there.
By the way, it's not the Democrats who are losing votes...

hsnorders,

I don't know where to begin with your humorous spew above.
No one takes Clooney seriously? Does being called to testify before Congress (3/14) on the Sudan indicate that someone takes Clooney seriously? What does he know about international affairs? Well, having spent months living in the lawless, volatile Sudan, he's certainly an expert on that region. Again, he was called to share his knowledge about the homicidal warlords in charge there. A scene from one of his dreadful movies? Perhaps your refer to Clooney's 'dreadful' The Descendants, which won the Golden Globe for Picture of the Year, while he took Best Actor for same. Clooney dates 'little girls?' Name one.

I love it when people put jerks in their place. Thanks too for pointing out the extent of Clooney's involvement in Sudan. I knew he had expertise but I didn't know the extent of it. Some actors are famous for being actors, and some actually do something with that fame!
07:54 PM on 03/18/2012
By 'little girls' he probably means Stacy Kiebler, whom George Clooney is currently dating and is 18 years younger than him (she's 32, hardly a 'little girl' anymore).
11:01 AM on 03/18/2012
I don't always agree with Clooney, but I respect his fighting for what he believes in. It would be great if he showed his true support and moved there. I am being serious...he would draw film crews to the actual place where this is happening. The true crime is that aid money is not getting to the people who need it. All of Africa is a corrupt mess and people need to ferret out the corruption and make sure aid goes where it is intended.

Clooney is a coward.

If there is a problem with violence in the Sudan, he should go over and fight the battle himself rather than attempt to get other people to fight for him.
He is asking that other people put their life at risk while he sits comfortable in one of his many homes.
This is his personal battle. It is not a battle or a war for America. He is free to go over and raise his own army to fight.

Clooney is a coward who sits comfortably in one of his many homes? Wrong on both counts, hoss. Clooney has spent enough time in the Sudan, a region controlled by genocidal warlords, to have been threatened with gunshot-death by a teenage soldier of one of them, while it's the rest of us who sit in comfortable homes getting fat and lazy on Big Macs. Educate yourself, lest you write tripe.

So how many American troops do you and Clooney want to send in to do battle with these "genocidal warlords" and their armies. How much more money should we borrow from China and send to the Sudan as our debt grows to $16 trillion. Are you or Clooney gonna pick up a rifle and stand guard Brian or are you to busy posting tripe.
