"Conservative" is not a political party, genius.

I continue to find it amazing how the Goopers pretend they can get Latino support while also preaching hatred of Latinos. But I guess they feel they can pull it off, seeing how they've been waging war on poor people, and have so much support in the Red Welfare States.

Is it Latino Bashing if we are worried about where our tax dollars are going since we are in major debt?

Looking at the over $14 Trillion Reagan-Bush-Bush National Debt, I'd say you should start trying to keep "Fiscal Conservatives" away from our tax dollars rather than spewing hatred towards any racial group.
10:39 PM on 03/16/2012
You do not want your tax dollars to go to other American citizens? Maybe going overseas and destroying other nations is a better use for them.
08:36 PM on 03/16/2012
Let me know when Rep Gutierrez actually puts American interests over those of illegals and I'll listen.

If bashing and insulting latinos translates into taking a stand against illegal immigration (which I believe is what bothers Congressman Gutierrez), then I suppose the Republicans are guilty as charged.

The illegal immigrant problem (or at least the part that comes from South of the border) could have and should have been sorted out during the last administration. All they needed to do was fine and imprison any CEO whose company hired an undocumented worker. The jobs would dry up (apart from the illegals working for Republican families as gardeners and babysitters). Instead there is this great outcry against Latinos, or Hispanics to the point where the great state of Arizona is banning Spanish language books. Oh yeah, the Republicans have taken a measured approach to the illegal immigrant problem-no doubt at all.

Illinois is probably the last state you should look to for congressman Gutierrez. Try one of the states with the new immigration laws....the one with the most cameras would be a good bet.

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and the residents there are United States citizens, for all that their primary language is Spanish rather than English. The population can still not decide if they want to be an American state, a seperate country or remain a territory, but as of now, they have every right to vote in "our" elections.

Gutierrez mentioned Romney's adviser Kris Kobach. In case anyone missed it, Kobach has been in direct talks with Romney about changes to federal immigration policy, should Romney get elected.

"The changes would see "attrition through enforcement" – the state-level clampdown pioneered by Kobach in Arizona, Alabama and several other states – extended across the entire US in an attempt to winkle undocumented workers out of the country.

Kobach estimates that within the first four years of a new Republican presidency, as many as half of the current pool of undocumented aliens – some 5.5 million – could be made to flee by introducing much more aggressive enforcement of immigration documents."

Obama should make sure that all Latino/immigrant voters know about the Romney/Kobach mass-expulsion plan.

If you live in So. Ca, it's not fear mongering and immigrant bashing, it is the reality of what they bring: high taxes and trashed neighborhoods. I invite you to live in a sanctuary city for a while, or better yet, buy property and watch it go down the tubes, really.

I lived in So Cali and Latinos have been the Largest minority there for decades. Add to the fact California used to be part of Mexico , Latinos have been in So Cali long before it became the playground of rich Whites. California's problems track Back to Prop 13, which rolled back property taxs by 57% and continues to limit property taxes. So you can have someone in California who owns a million dollar home paying less in property taxes than someone in Michigan who house is $150,000.

Never underestimate how easily it is to convince someone to vote against their own best interests. I have a friend whose elderly father immigrated legally in the 70's and has worked as a CPA his entire life. The man has endured no shortage of overt discrimination in his lifetime, but he watches Fox News and has grown into THAT kind of conservative.
