Nothing against this woman but the amount of people who think pole dancing is sexy is bizarre. Maybe 10 women on earth are sexy doing it but you can't the 10 million women doing it they don't look like attention starved idiots about to break their necks. Ladies you can't buy or climb to "sexy".

In my town we have a one legged stripper. According to the men who have seen her she can really work the pole. She's very popular and makes lots of money. She works without a prosthetic. Now I know the sport of pole dancing isn't the same as stripping but it came from the same thing.

For those of you who made disparaging comments, shame on you. Do any of you know how much mental strength, perseverance, and discipline it took for her to learn to pole dance? Who knows what else she can do with one arm that two-armed people wouldn't think about doing, and yet some of you have nerve to make fun. Why not go to a veteran's organization, why not go to a hospital and look at the vets who have lost both legs, but are persevering learning how to walk again, learning how to run again, play sports again? Make fun of them, too, while you're at it. Show what a compassionate, sensitive person you really are.

Agree with your post for the most part, but "mental strength"? C'mon.
02:52 PM on 03/20/2012
It takes mental strength to get the perseverance and discipline for her to do those things we take for granted. If she wasn't mentally strong, she could just give up, tell herself she isn't worth anything, that she would rather not learn how to do things she knows she needs to do. When she lost her arm, she could have just given up, but she didn't. It probably takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to do some things we take for granted, yet she continues to push herself to do them.

You know, there was a time when the pole was there just to make sure the combination of fuzzy navels and 9 inch heels didn't wind up with a pile of stripper at the bottom of the stage. Now it's a gymnastics routine that will probably end up in the Olympics. I miss the good ole days.

Pole dancing in the Olympics? I'm not sure some people have quite thought this oen through completely. I mean, If i'm not mistaken, the minimum age to compete in the Olympics is like what 15? You have 15 year old gymnasts, 15 year old ice skaters, but 15 year old pole dancers? Unless they're going to have those girls wearing full body suits (yeah right!)...see where this is going?
01:14 AM on 03/20/2012
There's a huge movement out there to make pole dancing more mainstream and have it as a fitness focussed event very similar to gymnastics. There's a long way to go but it's all about the concept of mainstreaming it as a sport. There's loads out there on the topic on both sides of the debate (from both pole dancers and non-pole dancers.). It's an interesting topic but not a new one.
