Problem is, liberalism doesn't sell to well on face value. Instead of admitting the promotion of policies which encourage illegal immigration, any enforcement is dubbed the war on hispanics. Attempt to clean up public schools and make them functional, it becomes a war on teachers and union busting. If this is political theatre, he and his fellow buffoons are the clowns at center stage. That's fine: there in the bright lights, it's easier to see the bugs as they skitter around making a mess. You cannot run and you cannot hide, buggies.

As an educated female resident of Virginia who has read copious amounts on the GOP attacks on female healthcare over the last 2 years, I can state without a doubt that there is a GOP "War on Women".
They want to take away our rights to medical privacy. They have passed laws requiring our doctors lie to us. They have passed laws making women pay for unnecessary medical procedures required by the legislators but not by anyone with a medical degree, and those procedures are expensive, not covered by insurance or Medicaid, and in many states are literal rape with a foreign object.
They have tried to give 2 cells rights that supercede the rights of a sentient, living, breathing human being. They have placed ridiculous hoops and restrictions on obtaining a legal medical procedure. They want us to share our private medical detaisl with employers and the government.
The only way this could be called "Political Theater" is if the politicians are enacting a script based on The Handmaid's Tale, which they seem to be attempting.
I am embarassed to be a Virginian. I voted against McDonnell. I am embarassed to be an American in the current environment being created by the GOP and their obsession with vaginas and uteri as they want every detail of your sex life and the right to force you to conform to their idea of what "proper" sex is and how often it should be.

NO sir, Mr. McDonnell. The problem is that your legislators are attempting to practice medicine without a license. Your legislature is not composed of physicians, and EVEN if a few of them ARE physicians, they haven't formed the requisite physician-patient relationship with the women of VA, which is neccessary in order to have the ability to order tests and diagnostic procedures on an individual patient. In doing so, every one of you are guilty of practicing medicine without a license!

By claiming "political theater," the far right is attempting the increasingly futile task of deflecting attention away from what they really stand for.

And it includes things like this:

The Tenets of Biblical Patriarchy
http://www.visionforumministries.org/home/about/biblical_patriarchy.aspx

"Male leadership in the home carries over into the church: only men are permitted to hold the ruling office in the church. A God-honoring society will likewise prefer male leadership in civil and other spheres as an application of and support for God’s order in the formative institutions of family and church.(1 Tim. 3:5)"

What good will it do for women to be able to get all the abortions they want ....which by the way is the new birth control....if the economy still SUCKS....do women not understand priorities...it's the economy stupid

Abortion is not the new birth control. Women using birth control pills, IUDs, and other birth control options far outnumber the women having abortions.

How (PRECISELY) does inserting your RELIGIOUS beliefs into women's bodies do ANYTHING for the economy OTHER than make it worse? Do you NOT know that having children is EXPENSIVE... and a LOT more expensive to SOCIETY than birth control is?

I haven't had a baby in 18 years BUT when I had my children it was more than ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS just to get them from conception to birth... That's before paying for a singe diaper, clothing or anything else for them.

How PRECISELY is it that you can justify THAT kind of WASTEFUL SPENDING but can't comprehend that birth control is NOWHERE NEAR as expensive?

I fanned and faved you, and am glad you brought this Tenet to light. I was having lunch with a few friends the other day, and one of them has a husband who actually told her that all this legislation that the TP Repubs are espousing is not really a "war" on women; rather, it is being proposed to "honor and protect" women...and the guy was actually serious. Scary.

The War Against Women was started by the Republicans and funded by the very corporations that many people have no idea are funding these laws to be enacted. Go to the link and see where you state legislator is involved with and supported by the American Legislative Economic Counsel. Bob McDonnell is one of their darlings. The way to wage the war back is to FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!

Well Bob, we will see how much "political theater" there is at the polls come November. I have read posts from Republican women who have finally seen what their party really thinks of women and will be voting for the other side. That's where McCain made his mistake when he chose Palin. He thought because he had a woman VP, the mindless women of the US would naturally vote for him. Never underestimate the power of women, especially when they are joined together for a cause.

It IS a Felony to practice medicine without a license.. I have posted on the AMA's wall, asking them to speak out, to no avail.
Where are the Doctors speaking out against these laws and lies. NH just submitted legislature requiring Doctors to tell their patients that abortions cause cancer. Untruth.
I wonder if someone is going to sue one of the states for just that.

Political Theater where the Republicans are playing "Reality Theater" and attacking women on all fronts. Virgina mandatory state rape is okay, Idaho, rape-rape is just God's way of saying "I love you, have a baby" and the republicans wheel out a sausage fest of questionable "men" to speak on their behalf and women. Limbaugh and the GOP are so transparent - they just thought they could walk on by and call it Liberalism. Attacking mothers, sisters, and daughters - I don't care who you are - is an attack we won't have.

This is what right wing radio and faux noise has done to this country.

They have convinced people to vote against their own best interests.

Now the extremists have power and they want to use it.

Vote all Republicans out of office in November.

The truly sad part is that they've convinced the evangelicals to side with them so they can carry out their plan to turn our country into a corporate run fascist state.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross”
Sinclair Lewis

"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power."

McDonnell is a FOOL if he thinks this is theater of any kind. Women are not cartoons and
we ARE paying attention. Using the Democrats as an excuse for his ineptitude as a politician won't work this time. The low rating approval is just the beginning for this governor. He
