If You pay 1.5 Mil for a baseball card you are a complete rouche bag,
08:10 AM on 03/27/2012
Why?? Some people like fine art, others like real estate, and some like sports collectibles. To each their own. Live and let live.

agreed

If you have a million dollars to spend on a tiny piece of cardboard then you have too much money.
09:52 AM on 03/27/2012

I personally know Bill Goodwin and he runs a very good auction. I have no doubt he will receive at least the reserve on this card. A very fair card dealer out of St Louis.

Hard to believe someone actually has kept something for a 100 years and in mint condition like this. I wonder how many of these even exist anymore.

Some say about 50-60 but many of them are torn and tattered. Less than 5-6 in collectible, investment grade.

Imagine if they had one that was still in the original cigarette pack still sealed. WOW! Bet those would be some harsh cigs. with Obamacareless on the horizen most countries pay for their socialized medicine with a sin tax, tabacco, beer, liquor, lottery and condoms, etc. Not sure how we will pay for it, the CBO said last week that paying for the plan is flawed, it will cost 3 times as much as projected adding 10 to 15 trillion to the debt and will still leave 2 to 6 million with no coverage. As usual Obama's ideas are real winners.

In 1986, President Reagan signed the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor law, which requires hospitals to admit all who arrive at the emergency room and treat them regardless of their ability to pay.

This ensured that acutely ill patients who are uninsured receive appropriate care and to prevent hospitals from refusing treatment. Basically, we had federally mandated national health care signed into law under a Republican administration, but not have a rational way to pay for it.

Those who seek to repeal the federally mandated insurance requirements in the health-care law should also seek to repeal EMTALA. To make someone provide a service without compensation, how could the champion of the free market sign such a bill?

If Republicans are serious about decreasing government control of health care, they should start by introducing a bill that would repeal the law signed by Reagan that mandates free health care for all who seek it, it was the largest expansion of government mandated health care since Medicare.

Remember George Bush stating that all Americans had access to health care? That all they had to do was present to their local emergency department? That is EMTALA. If we are going to mandate that hospitals treat patients, we should mandate that individuals purchase insurance to pay for that care otherwise we have a health care system where the few pay for the many.

President Obama wants those who utilize the system to pay for it.

Was Reagan a socialist or communist?

What does this have to do with selling a rare baseball card ???
07:31 AM on 03/27/2012

I bought an old cigarette card at a baseball card show when I was in middle school. It was a no-name player, but still it felt like owning a piece of history. I'm not sure if I still have it or if I sold it on eBay a few years ago, but it was still fun to have.
