Regarding Mrs. Duggar's comments that "the world's population would fit inside of Jacksonville Florida...I completely fail to see how almost 7 billion human beings could do that. In my opinion, the Duggars fail to see the building crisis this earth is having - and will continue to have feeding everyone. Americans make up only 5% of the world's population and yet consume 20% of its energy! The amount of resources a family of 21 consumes in the US in a month could possibly feed a family in a poor nation for a year! (I wonder how many disposable diapers this family has used - they may need their own landfill!)

That comes from proven facts actually..... I mean, there are three different examples like that, the one she used was that you can fit the entire population of the world in Jacksonville, FL....all on 1 and 1/2 ft by 1 1/2ft squares. Not comfortable, its for display purposes I guess... The others are that you can fit the population of the world in Montana, each with 1,000sq ft. The last is Texas, actually... just read this, I can't vouch for complete sanity on this website, but their math seems to check out..o.o

One can be impressed by the number of sardines that get crammed into a tin but those don't have to be fed. Wonder if she's ever heard of India?

We all know, of course, that God's a Tar Heel, 'cause She made the sky Carolina Blue, but does the occurrence of miscarriages mean that She's an abortion doctor, or at least Pro-Choice?

Michelle D. should only comment on things she knows: popping out kids and obey her husband

I personally don't want to be shoulder to shoulder staked several high with others of the world's population in an area the size of Jacksonville, Florida. I invite this severely misinformed woman to visit China, India or any other country that is experiencing a population challenge to feed, cloth and house its people.

We live on a finite planet of resources and Mrs. Dugger and her husband should not be so selfish in thinking their God meant it just for them.

Yeah, they are experiencing a population crises, there are too many men and not enough women. Literally...O~O like, they are having to ship in women from other countries to marry all the guys because there just aren't enough women. (It's because of the one child policy, males are usually expected to care for the parents when they are old and women usually go off and marry, so logically most of the people would abort the girl and have the boy)

obviously she needs to go somewhere where it is obvious that demand for resources far outstrips the ability of the planet to supply.

At least it would be much easier to fit the whole population of the world in Jacksonville than it would be to fit the whole history of the world in 6,000 years.

TLC: Send this family around the world, please. They need to get a dose of real reality.

Basically, the definition of overpopulation focuses on whether or not a current population is SUSTAINABLE - not whether it FITS SIDE BY SIDE IN A SHEER SEA OF HUMAN FLESH WITHIN A BOUNDARY!

Gah!
09:11 AM on 04/01/2012

Mr. and Mrs. Duggar are anomalies. I wonder how long and how much effort the producers of this show had to look to find them?

While I do not at all agree with their viewpoints about procreation, I also understand that most people do not live their lifestyle and heartily disagree with it as far as number of children is concerned.

As far as her controlling herself, how about we give a little of the credit to Mr. Duggar, too? He is the one- so to speak- wielding the sword, is he not? I think perhaps if he got an on the sly vasectomy it would not be out of order in their case.

While I don't disagree with your overall post, unfortunately the Duggars are not an anomaly. They belong to the ultra conservative fundamental Christian movement, Quiverfull, meaning a quiverfull of soldiers for God. Their mission is to populate the earth with like minded folks, and inflict their lifestyle and beliefs upon others. Hence the reason they support Santorum and others of his ilk.
