If we don't stop this gun madness it will eventually touch each and everyone on this site, a friend, a child, your love ones. Yes, there is black on white crime which is no better, can't we all work together to stop the gun madness.

I can't agree more with you on the gun madness, but Republicans are in the pocket of NRA and sadly Democrats have no courage to even bring this topic to light. After Gabby Gifford's incident last year, not one peep about gun laws came from President Obama. There have been almost 60,000 people dead on gun violence since 9/11, but frankly by and large Americans don't care. Far too many are lured by the thrill of holding life and death in their hands and are oblivious to the detriment it causes the society.

Gun lovers do not see it is all about money, sales of guns, ammunition, not about the hunting experience. Bush refused to continue the ban on semi automatics even as police testified they needed it. NRA is as powerful as Wall Street. It is about greed.

Yes, there is black on white, white on white, black on black, hispanic, non hispanic, etc. violence. That violence is a crime each and every time that it occurs and the individuals involved are individually responsible and should be held accountable if our system is to remain a system of laws rather than wild, wild, west anarchy that will ultimately make EVERYONE even less safe.

There are no "group" crimes, only simplistic mentalities that think in "group" terms which only tend to perpetuate/escalate tensions and increase intergroup incidents -- a ridiculous result for any reasonable "leader."

FNIALLY I am seeing the truth in the media, thank you Huffington Post. At least you are keeping it real. I have lost a lot of respect for Anderson Cooper for not addressing this. I thought he had some brains. Forgive me.
. George Zimmerma was arrested. His Dad called the states atty to get over there and unarrest him.How conveniently the states atty has now recused himself. Then they hid Trayvon's body. Good Ole boys. They did not know that these parents had the TRUTH. Zimmerman has covered for his son for years.....and now it has gone to far, he has murdered someone and we must stand up. They want us to think it is a race issue, NO it is not it is a crime cover up. Period

Nope, he was a judge in Orange county Florida which is where zimmerman murdered Trayvon

He was also judge in Fl....obviously a dishonest one.

badwolf....you're right. Robert Zimmerman was a magistrate in Manassas, VA from 2000-2006. In Va., a magistrate is not a judge, but are sure more than aware of the system and how it works.
06:06 PM on 04/05/2012
there is one thing I know for sure. The investgation is over and Angela Corey is reviewing all the evidence collected, autopsy report, witness accounts and known facts. So far no decision has come forward as to what she might do. Grand Jury, Bypass and issue a warrant or dismiss it. If this were a strong case, George Zimmerman would be sitting in jail waiting for his day in court. He's not, So there is some serious doubt if he can be be charged with anything and what charge it should be. That's a Fact and only time will tell.

If Zimmerman was injured, his wounds should NOT have been touched before taking pix. I mention that to highlight the larger point. This is turning into another OJ case. The police seem incapable of following standard law-enforcement protocol, like protecting and documenting evidence. Maybe that's true, maybe not, but the appearance of wrongdoing is just as damaging as the real thing, and that's a huge part of the controversy right now. Zimmerman was told NOT to pursue. He shot an unarmed teenage boy. There are many questions about his actions, and those questions should be asked by a prosecutor and by the police. The police have an obligation to collect and secure evidence, and that body of evidence is supposed to be available to both the prosecutor and the defendant. None of the things that are supposed to happen are happening. If this doesn't ultimately result in rioting somewhere, it will very probably result in one or more controversial trials where a jury nullifies conviction by deciding it doesn't trust the police or the courts. Zimmerman's guilt or innocence is secondary to the mammoth incompetence of the Florida law-enforcement system. If he is innocent, he has a right to be cleared. If he's guilty, he needs to be held responsible. This isn't happening, and Florida officials seem clueless to--and maybe unconcerned about--the damage this case is doing to the justice system.

That's just it, along with the rest of the smoke and mirrors going on IT DOES NOT MATTER that Zimmerman was or was not injured. He became the "instigator/perpetrator" when he chose to FOLLOW Mr Martin.
Once that happened Mr Martin was completely within his rights AS DETAILED in the "Stand Your Ground" law to use all means up to and including lethal force against Mr Zimmerman...
06:38 PM on 04/05/2012
somewhat true. The evidence is held by the prosecution and does not have to be shared with the defense until the pretrial hearing (discovery). zimmerman was never told not to pursue. "we don't need you to do that" means he can if chooses to. open ended. It was wrong and stupid on Zimmerman's part is all. a far as incompetence, no one knows waht the police collected for evidence yet. Let's wait on the State Attorney and see!

One young man lies alone in the morgue even tho his cell phone would contact his family. The other man walks gingerly into a police station tucked in shirt, no traces of blood. Father is called to help with his story. Chief Investigator doesn't buy it but gets shut down. Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Do we know what time Trayvon left home to go to the store and what during that time, where was Zimmerman? I say this because they have indicated Zimmerman was heading to Target. His whole conversation to 911 sounds as if he is just sitting in his car watching. Something just isn't right about this whole situation. And as far as him being arrested....did you see the police footage? There was one time when he (Zimmerman) was not in view of any of the officers when they were walking in the station.

I don't care what Zimmerman's father said, I don't care whether there was a scuffle, I DO care that Zimmerman followed an unarmed teenage without legal provovation, after he was directed not to by a legal authority, and we ALL care that that teenager is dead for NO GOOD REASON - and we want to know why - an arrest and an investigation after a manslaughter has occurred should always be made
07:02 PM on 04/05/2012
I always thought so too, but no investigation began until 5 days later they started talking to the 911 callers and going door to door. Memories fade and change after 24 hours.

Well folks have you heard this:
NBC admitted doctoring a 911 tape to fit their view.
ABC airs a video where they claim there's no sign of injury. Then ABC enhances the video and admits there was evidence of injury.
After the enhancement of audio, CNN doesn’t think Zimmerman used a racial slur after all.
They admitted this after they did their harm and caused the hype.

Why is anyone (except an attorney representing the individual) present when an adult is being questioned by the police?
05:31 PM on 04/05/2012
ask them. its up to the discretion of the officers and the suspect as to who can be present during an interview or interrogation.
05:44 PM on 04/05/2012
I once brought in a 20 year old suspected of a string of arsons and he wouldn't talk to anyone without his grandmother being present. his father in prison on drug charges and mother deceased. So we brought Grandma to the station to conduct the interview. About 45 minutes in, she stopped us and requested a lawyer. All the man did was look at Grandma and answer what she let him answer. It just depends on the circumstances.
