I don't understand why people deem it necessary to focus in on the breakdown the founder had. This has nothing to do with his breakdown, yet a lot of people on here seem to think they are clever and making some big statement about the brief reactive psychosis the founder had. Someone having a mental breakdown is hardly the issue here and they already established and got down to what really happened with him. Let us be mature here and stay focused on why we are here.

I'm sorry, but I question the integrity of someone who masturbates in public...
02:29 PM on 04/05/2012
Yes, I agree that is a rather...compromising thing to do. But if we can take trust in what he has been diagnosed with, he was delusional and not in his right mind, again as I said, having a huge break down on a rather big level to the point that he was admitted to a psychiatric ward. Obviously masturbating in public is weird and creepy, but also take into account he was completely mentally out of it from over stress. So it seems counter productive to focus in this certain moment in his life.

I am still filled with hope for these organizations to help the success of awareness and bring forth activism in our youth. I see these negative comments and i think to myself, "Man these people will tear down anything to make themselves feel better about their miserable lives." If you don't want to partake, don't. But if you don't, no need to tear things down just because you want to make psychological excuses for yourself.
02:25 PM on 04/05/2012
Nice try.

These so called 'negative' comments are being expressed for two reasons.

1) Where is the outcry for American war crimes? Americans should worry about themselves. Americans should worry about their conflicts, like the Iraq war that murdered 1 million+ Iraqi civilians.

2) Most of the negative backlash came from the UGANDANS themselves. The probably don't want the attention of Americans, since every country we focus on we end up destroying.

Bad try.

1. We are all human and should worry about all humans not just Americans.

2. You only focus on the negative backlash of a few UGANDANS and don't acknowledge all the Ugandans that think this is a very good thing they are doing. Some countries beg for the attention of America so as to not get left in the 3rd world.

By informing people, motivating them to lobby, fundraise and become activists themselves. In your case, clearly this is a waste of effort. But in other cases, perhaps not.

"Supposed crisis"? Wow.
02:31 PM on 04/05/2012
OK, I'll take that as "I don't have a clue on how this helps." If the issue was a crisis, action (look the word up) would be taken. Sitting around texting your friends doesn't help, Scooter. Yes, supposed crisis. This guy hasn't been seen in years. What is the problem today other than many of you have nothing to occupy your time?

By putting cold hard cash in Invisible Children's coffers.  Only 32% of their donations actually make it to the actual cause

so far 91 MOC's have signed onto House and Senate Resolutions regarding the LRA. People around the US are holding meetings with their Congressional Members urging them to do more. Sign up for a lobby meeting at the kony2012 website!

I got to 7:30 and it didn't spell out any specifics, hadn't addressed any of the criticisms, and certainly hadn't added anything new. I pity anyone who felt good about supporting this crusade.

Skip ahead to ~ 18:00 and watch the rest of the film for the segments you missed.Perhaps then you'll find the answers others found by watching the entire film.

It's the shame of the Western world that we intentionally destabilize 3rd world nations and regions by creating and supplying armed thugs. The regions remain disorganized and easy to exploit by business interests. This has been common practice for hundreds of years.

Do you really think that a armed band of hundreds of individuals can supply and resupply itself (it's weapons caches included) for decades by pillaging impoverished villages WITHOUT extensive outside support?

This is the Truth.
01:28 PM on 04/05/2012
You are correct. The Sudanese government in Khartoum had supplied them for a long time to destabilize the southern areas of Sudan (including the Darfur region) prior to the secession vote to create a hold on those areas. Also, groups such as Al-Shabaab have been implicated in the LRA's survival. Additionally, the LRA loots and pillages small settlements and military outposts throughout the region. Hence why he needs to be stopped...
02:28 PM on 04/05/2012
Actually the LRA hasn't been active in a long time, many Ugandans believe Joseph Kony is dead, and it is widely acknowledge that the remnants of the LRA have fled into the Congo and Sudan

Beware this secretive cult.
01:20 PM on 04/05/2012
You do realize that no one has seen or heard from Kony in SIX years, don't you? Peace has resumed in this region several years ago.

Makes you wonder why anyone is bringing it up now - need another "manufactured" crisis, maybe?

Man, watching the Kony 2012 video fills you with so much hope, but then you read the comments on this article and come crashing back down.

If you don't want to support his cause, then fine. Just don't fool yourself into thinking that the LRA and like-minded organization are going to disappear on their own. Lives are being ruined as we sit behind our computers and chastise Jason Russell for having a mental breakdown, or accuse IC with unsubstantiated claims of unethical spending practices.
01:22 PM on 04/05/2012
Kony disappeared six years ago, and peace was then re-established. It has been peaceful ever since. History is fine for educational purposes, but this is really a non-issue, now.

"invisable children" should arm themselves and go solve the problem, or did they want someone else to do it. the world is full of evil people, sadam, kony, assad, komeini, amididijad, osama, muslem brotherhood, so on and so on. they will all exist as long as there are people like "code pink" and other anti-war groups who oppose the solution. just as there are police in the U.S. who job it is to stop criminals there must be a concerted effort world-wide to stop people like kony, the real conversation is who will stop them and who determines what criteria is used in determining who should be stoppped. it is easy (and sometimes profitable) to make video's
