Take for example a neclear weapon, once it's drop and it explodes it over with but with a biologicial weapon the spread of it power could last for many years to come.

Actually with a nuclear weapon it isn't over with as soon as it drops. The area which it impacted is contaminated for years unless proceedures are taken to decontaminate. Also, people in surrounding areas which the radiation poison will blow to will need to be treated. The toxicity of the blowing contamination which gets caught up in cloud dust can carry over in rain onto crops.

A nuclear attack isn't all over once it drops and we aren't readiness prepared for one of these either in the cities that are most likely targets.

All it takes is one person infected with smallpox to walk through an airport and board a plane.

Remember this: There are hundreds of Russians who have phds that are unemployed. There is also thousands of pounds of smallpox from the former Soviet Union that is unaccounted for.

1+1=2.

There is no need for me to hide anywhere and your claim of bringing the red menance boogyman back into politics is just a silly reply from a person who has no argument to my original statement.

Members of Al-Qaidi will strap bombs to themselves and blow up their own people. Don't ever think they wouldn't infect themselves with smallpox and shashay through and airport and board an airplane.

It just goes to show that the GOP are do as we say not as we do. Talk about a government super agency that needs to be streamlined. And this is predominately a GOP created agency that is way overblown.

So much for the GOP and "smaller government", huh? They only want it "smaller" if it doesn't interfere with or affect their individual sense of "power". What a crop of hypocrits!

With the Republican Party it's all about power, greed and influence. Nothing more.

Definition of conservative: Does not like change. Well guess what - when it comes to defense we need to stay up-to-date to address new forms of threats and the sweetheart contracts to Boehner's home state need to be done away with.

This is one way we are open too some major problems. There is no reason that it has not been addressed. This is our lives at stake! They made provisions for themselves. The public is not protected.

Most in the congress do not care about America or their constituents. They only care about themselves and their own power.

Having constant turnover and upheaval is not the answer. Look at the individuals voting record - you can find this online and then decide who is representing you. Ihave found that for over 25 years of following legislation, the democrats have created more jobs, lowered taxes for middle class, and less govt spending than republicans. I know this is not republicans preach, but look it up. The charts don't lie.

Woulda, coulda, and shoulda, the three mantras of our congress and senate. Oh my how we will pay and what weeping will occur when the bad guys succeed (we have had sooo many near misses and not one word yet on what would have happened for example on Broadway in NYCity if those 250 pounds of ANFO had detonated). Our civilian populace is virtually clueless as to the magnitude of the comments being made by Senator Bob Graham about the WMD Bill or the consequences of inaction and FOUR YEARS of maneuvering despite the fact they KNOW the consequences of a successful detonation. One Hundred Committees? Give me a break, this is scandalous and feckless to be playing with my life. Bob Coulombe

As a physician and epidemiologist, I am discouraged by this shameful recalcitrance to positive change. Bob Graham is absolutely correct in stating bioterrorism is a far greater threat than any other from of attack. Bio-weapons, unlike chemical or radiological, are all but impossible to detect using current methods. At the moment, we approach such threats from a reactionary position, when we SHOULD be utilizing a more proactive stance. Let me put it this way...If the average American really understood this issue, they wouldn't leave their homes! Using our current epidemiological methodology against us, a terrorist could very easily create a pandemic. I won't go into specifics, but lets just say that there are hardy pathogens that could be spread coast to coast before the first case presented in an emergency room. By the time state and Federal teams got up to speed, it would be too late for many Americans...
Sleep well America...Congress is watching over you...

And President Obama has a record of researching and supporting the secretary of defense cuts on wasteful spending as well as what is recommended for bio weapons and I think dems would support if it were not for house republicans. Boehner has contracts to lose in his home state that are outdated or will never work and yet he continues to fight for them. Sixty Minutes and other documentaries have showcased this.
