That is really something, a strong healthy young woman, life changed in an instant. That is something.

I hope this young lady has a full recovery from this tragedy. She seems to have a very strong will to survive and sometimes that can matters more than what doctors say.

how can she have a full recovery when her leg has already been amputated and next will be her fingers? How will that be a full recovery?

Boy - are you a pessimistic person - I have some friends without limbs and they probably enjoy life more than you do - all the best to this girl and she will conquer what life has dealt her.
11:09 AM on 05/16/2012
Ever have a guy with a prostetic limb easily beat you up a hill on a mountain bike trail? Ever have a female runner with a with one blow by you in a 5k run? Ever go to the NY State Games for the Physically Challenges and see kids confined to wheelchairs have an awesome basketball tournament that brings tears to your eyes?
Probably not! Otherwise you wouldn't make such a ridiculous statement. She's fighting for her LIFE right now. She can recover and live a full and meaningful life. She's already concerned about work and school!! You should see what life is really about away from your PC.

Horrible tragedy. God bless her and her family. Is there a lesson to be learned from this to help protect others?

This girls' got HUGE, GLISTENING....... brains....
03:06 PM on 05/15/2012
Yes. Stop buying antibacterial (soaps/wipes/sprays) products. Stop taking/requesting antibiotics for every single sniffle and cough.

These bugs are flourishing because we have given them the perfect storm to grow and mutate in: a near sterile environment.

(Of course, I would expect those with diminished immune systems to adhere to their physicians' orders if prescribed an antibiotic....)
03:27 PM on 05/15/2012
I would add to what meat-a-saur-us said, question your doctor. Ask what could be warning signs of further problems. Follow up, question, followup again.

I'm glad she's getting better. Answer to everybody's prayers.

In early 2011 Jeff Hanneman of Slayer contracted a flesh-eating bacteria, allegedly from a spider bite, and he's still not fully recovered from it yet. Best wishes for this young woman. And Jeff, too.
