Who's next in line to complain about something Obama did today angered them? Speak up.

I got one for you Harriett

Can Obama give someone who isn't high yellow a cabinet appointment, or an appointment of any kind in his White House?

Do you believe that he has the capacity to appoint someone who would FAIL the brown paper bag test?

My question has become - "Would MLK have been too dark to get a job with the Obama adminstration or Harriett Tubman for the matter?"

It is really starting to look like a Caribbean color hierarchy at work here.

What you think of them apples? Now prove me wrong (You cannot use his lovely wife Michelle as an excuse- she isn't working for him)

What in the world ?!

I hope you're kidding. But if you're not, go crawl back in your hole and do your homework.

Obama's worst appointment so far -- she's a very weak poet.

I don't know; Pulitzer nominee and Jackson Prize winner? Sounds pretty strong to me. Please, do tell us of your poetic accomplishments so that we may judge your qualifications to offer this critique. Perhaps you could share with us some of your work for our examination and analysis.

Here is her homepage http://www.elizabethalexander.net/ and some of her poems are posted there. Don't let some pseudo-intellectual wannabe tell you what to think of her work. Read it for yourself.

ROFL, I am going to take that as a joke

Yah. She can only bench 120 I hear.

Congratulations Mrs. Alexander. I think having a nice poem recited just before any ceremony sets the right tone and spirit of the event. I brings peace to the universe and the universe rewards us by blessing us with peace in return. It's not what you do, it's the spirit in which you do it that matter's "quote: my mom).
02:27 PM on 12/19/2008
Your mom is wise, indeed. You would do well to heed any advice she may give you. And thank you for passing it on. It was just what I needed to hear today. Give your mom an extra hug for me today.

And here's one you can give your mom:

Duty compels us to do things; love makes us do them beautifully.

I get it. You're mocking gay people for being hurt that an anti-gay preacher is speaking at te inauguration. That's really funny. Good thing you're "normal" huh?

She/he is not mocking gay people, she is mocking all those who claimed to be slighted by everything Obama has done so far.
01:52 PM on 12/19/2008
Now where in Simba87's post does it say that she is "mocking gay people?" A little paranoid I see.

"Former U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins said Alexander faces a tall order.

"I don't envy her," Collins wrote in an e-mail. "Such poems are nearly impossible to bring off. Because of the heaviness of the subject the risk is that you will end up under it rather than on top. I wish her well and I'm certainly glad Obama is making room for a poet."
---------

"I don't envy her?" Jealous much Billy??? Such a *glowing* compliment from a fellow poet: I wish her well.

I remember how wonderful Maya Angelou was.

I don't think he was trying to say anything negative. I think he just meant that she has a really tough job ahead of her. Getting selected is not like winning a medal where all you have to do is show up and not trip on stage.
01:15 PM on 12/19/2008
Congratulations!!!!

wtf, he's being inclusive of poets now. won't that offend some of his supporters?
