We vacationed at Disney World a few years ago and I noticed folks there in the red tshirts and just thought it was a group of some sort but didn't give it more than a passing thought. I eventually figured out that these particular visitors were probably gay. So what! All they were doing was minding their own business and enjoying the park just like anyone else! What I fear is the ignorance and hatred that I see spewed from so called family/Christian groups everytime I look at the news.

What are they afraid of? Themselves?

Like Rush, The Florida Family Association, sells hate, fear and misinformation. Sad really.

Go ahead, fly your freak flags. I've never been to a Disney park where people are looking at or looking for planes carrying banners. But, whatever.

I find it hilarious that one man said "(he) took his two-year-old granddaughter to the park 18 years ago and called the event 'the most deplorable sight that we ever saw.' ". I've been to Gay Days at Disneyland and can assure you, I've never seen anything "deplorable". Unless you consider red shirts deplorable that is. Are there stares? Yes, of course. Did the people care? They didn't seem to be overly concerned to me. Other than being slightly less tacky, they saw that gay people, en mass, are no different than the rest of the tourists.

Would be interested to know which his grandaughter remembers the "deplorable gay people" or her grandfathers deplorable behavior. I am guessing the latter!

How many times does this have to be stated? Disney DOES NOT ORGANIZE GAY DAYS!!! If these "family" groups can't be bothered to do their research, then why should their "concerns" be taken seriously?

What's their sign going to read? "Surrender Dorothy"? That's the first thing that came to my mind anyway.

More power to them. They are supporting the local economy and letting people know how ridiculous they are. And, for any patrons who prefer not to see gay people freely celebrating themselves and each other, well then, they will know to stay away.

That's an interesting perspective. So hate speech should be allowed to stimulate the economy? Wow. Don't run for governor ok?

I looked at the banners.  They simply say, "Warning. Gay Pride day at Disney Saturday."  I don't consider that hate speech.  I do consider it foolish and ridiculous as my original post says, and I believe the majority of people who see it will think as I do.  It says much more about those who paid for it than about us.  Hate speech condemns, incites violence, etc.  This simple statement does not qualify.

Can't someone just shoot down the plane with the homophobic banners? That'd be a sight.

While I know you were being facetious, I think it is important to remember the planes are simply run by a business that runs any banner they get paid to drag behind their plane. Good, bad or indifferent, they are only in it for the money. I have no issue with that. These homophobic, hateful people hiring them are where I set my sights. They have the right to express the way they feel, as do I. And when marriage is a right we have, I will get married in a church, spiritually and legally. I figure that will be a far more righteous revenge because they will have no recourse and because they will give themselves frickin' heart attacks with all that hate and rage boiling up.

This is too funny, lol, a grandfather who took his granddaughter who was two at the time to Disney World 18 years ago is offended. There's a good chance that granddaughter, now 20 will be attending the event with her girl friend.
