Voters have a choice of candidates from the corporate-controlled two-party duopoly, which has a stranglehold on ballot access laws.

Not even the Green Party has ballot access in all 50 states.
06:26 AM on 06/09/2012
if the two parties are controlled by corp. it is our fault-- they still have to get on the ballot and we at a local level control that! ............ change it or just go with the best that is available

To make matters worse, prices are going up and items that are priced the same continue to decrease in portion size. The recession may be officially over but its aftermath is just as potent. Our children are growing up with poverty at an alarming rate (40 percent maybe?) but maybe that is on purpose. If you live your whole life in such a state you would get use to it and never expect more (or hope). This in turn would lead to more of the complacency we are witnessing now.

With no investment in education and transportation the USA will become a 3rd world country in 30 years. Your children and granchildren will live a life of impoverishment and ignorance. Must like they do in Mississippi, South Carolina, and Lousiana today.

Prices are not really going up. What is happening is that the purchasing power of the dollar is going down. Inflation. Your money buys less. What your paid is worth less then it was before the down turn.

The New America... Panem. the Capital dwellers are wealthy or just plain in debt up to its eye balls. The districts divided by their useful trades and its workers are nothing but serfs terrorized by the peacekeepers to keep em inline. A bit of old British Aristocracy with Roman taste for blood. The Hunger Games. So that no one should miss out on some blood and gore violence every year at the games. Oh ya.. instead of war your kids are tributes to fight to the death while the Capitalist fawn over tributes and gush like we do with American Idol. How savvy that.

If the gops win the elections...they will get rid of the Minimum Wage Law and working class wages will drop more and the bosses profits will go up. Unions and collective bargaining will be outlawed. Civil Rights will be eroded and discrimination will rum rampant. Kinda sad.

It will be a short one. Judging by all the F.E.M.A camps that are up and ready I would say they anticipate a bad fall out if this economy gets worse by design. It looks like at some point they are prepared to deal us a blow pretty hard when it does. Unlike the Government with a constitution and law to protect the people's interest Corporate take over of capitalist have no such reserve about hard core police state and control and using the weapons of the military against it's own.

what is really sad is that people like you actually believe that crap. By the way, the GOP that you speak so kindly of was responsible for every single bit of the Civil Rights act of 1964, which can be proven by Lydon B. Johnson's words when he signed it that "I am committing political suicide by signing this. You must have had union teachers that only care about their own pay and benefits. If you do not want there to be any difference in the "bosses" wages and the workers, there would be no incentive to do better to earn more. I think that is communism.

If you do not want there to be any difference in the "bosses" wages and the workers, there would be no incentive to do better to earn more. I think that is communism. Well by giving corporations tax breaks and entitlements to CEO's where does that put their incentive to compete and grow their business and create new things? Really? Today they have no reason to do anything but sit on that large bed of cash and do nothing. it works both ways.
06:54 AM on 06/09/2012
tsk, tsk, tsk-- the GOP of today is the same "people" as the Dixiecrats of 63-- so you must have had the real good teachers.... and, yes, Johnson was a DEM and so were the Kennedys ----and the northeast Dems and the upper mid west Dems and the west coast Dems -- and some of them were of them were "practical" or overtly racist but most were not.......... See when the GOP bought into the southern stratagy they lost any claim for being the party of Lincoln.
06:51 PM on 06/08/2012
Well why is this . We all start the same way . But people do not put the company first in line so they stay at the low paying jobs. The ones that put the company first most likely will get raises and move up he management line. Good example got to Walmart and ask one of the clerks about a computer and they just look at you if you ask what softwere and speed the computer has oH yes they work in the department. Go to the home department and ask what is the suction power on a vaccum and they just look at you and don't know what you are talking about. That is why the american wtroker can not get ahead

Then again, perhaps someone who's forced to work two or three Walmart-type jobs in order to survive simply doesn't have the spare time required to study up on the engineering specifics of every last piece of merchandise in her/his department.

You and every other person control their own destiny. Put it this way: If you use the words "I can't!" then you are a loser and you might as well enertain a career at Walmart.

My son's first week out of classes he took a job and the company sent him 150 miles away to work for 2 days. No expense money, no motel room, sleep in the trucks and they were almost arressted for vagrancy.
Yeah now that is the kind of jobs people will have. Give you orders to be in Alaska the next morning ready for work, like KMart use to do if they wanted to get rid of someone in Management.

What I find paradoxical is that in purely socialist system, government owns business, but in the American capitalist system (as it currently exists), business owns government.

Either way, the working class gets bu gg ered.

Wow! the big businesses getting richer while the hard working employees, which is us you and me getting poorer and poorer. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Since Obama has been in office there have been as many jobs created as there were in the entire eight years under GW Bush.
Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008 and weren't we in a financial crisis then ? When there is a recession/depression ....there is only one class of people that really have a change in their lifestyle and that's the middle class. Even people with good jobs have found expenses rising faster than their income and falling behind. .

If you have the income....it is possible to cut back and save more....but according to Business Insider--- 61 percent of Americans "always or usually" live paycheck to paycheck, and 36 percent of Americans say that they are unable to contribute anything to retirement savings.
Even if a % of them spendthrifts odds are they can't all be.

Those people that own businesses get the reward. Those people that work for them, get paid only by the hour. You get paid by the value of your service. An auto plant opening in Motgomery Ala. advertised 800 jobs, and had 22,000. applications. If you feel underpaid, just walk out, there are 22,000 people ready to take your place.

You are correct. The middle class are owed nothing except what they can earn. Of course, the wealthy are owed nothing also, so why are they getting tax breaks and tax credits? The argument that there is some sort of moral obligation to pay anyone a living wage is not a capitalist argument, although it might be a Christian argument. I figure it will only take some time before enough people are out of work that we have a real rebellion towards congress and the rich which will only stop when enough of them feel the wrath. Eat the Rich will be the new slogan.
