Nope! Judgement should not be passed on by one's shoes. Clothing is a different story...I pass judgement on peoples clothing all the time!

How is judging clothes different from judging shoes?

People wearing 6 inch heels tend to be people willing to damage their body and risk a serious accident in order for people to notice them.
04:24 PM on 06/16/2012
I have no problem walking in high heels. And it has nothing to do with getting others to notice, I love fashion and enjoy putting together outfits, high heels can really take it up a notch. As for putting my body at risk, when it comes to high heels I will only get them if the fit is impeccable and I can easily walk in them. If someone can't handle heels they shouldn't wear them, but falls often come down to bad fit and clumsiness.

Ridiculous article! They might have just as well said, "what's your sign, baby?" HP is really starting to trend toward the absurd and the trivial. But of course, that is what most want to read...

Look at the stories on the sidebar here. Miley Cyrus show major cleavage. Selma Hyak shows cleavage in yoga pants then one about her stripping in Americano. Charlize Theron shaves her head... How can anyone take the Huff seriously anymore.

Get a grip and stay OFF these pages if you don't like it.
ONLY click on Politics and Business.
Cause that's like saying you can't take the front page or business section of The New York Times seriously because of the style and entertainment sections are superficial.

Maybe if they were wearing Summersox ( the first Flat socks ) they would not be slipping and sliding in those shoes.

Anyone recognize who makes the black thong sandal on the lead picture of the 4 types of shoes?

Years ago, Cosmopolitan had this one-off issue on men.
In this issue, they published the results of a "study" where the founder of Thom McCann (men's shoes) and some other mens shoe expert analyzed photos of mens feet, where the men were wearing specific shoes styles (ie: flip-flops, loafers, Nikes, Doc Martens, etc.).
Their opinions were published as to who would be the type of man that would wear a specific style of shoe.
The results were fascinating, not to mention accurate, to me anyway! I wish I'd still had this issue, or wish that someone would come up with a study on the correlation of men's personalities and their footwear.

It costs $31.50 to find out for sure, but based on the abstract and summary there is no correlation between what is reported here and what the study actually says. The study compared what people assumed from a picture of favorite shoes to the wearer's self-description (not the wearer's actual characteristics, just what the wearer thinks of him/her self). HP says "90 percent of a person's characteristics can be determined"; the study actually says: "Shoes convey a thin but useful slice of information about their wearers."

You are correct. The methods say "
Three sources of data were collected: (1) shoe owners’ self-report regarding their personality, attachment style, and demographic information (target self-ratings), (2) perceptions of shoe owners based on shoe characteristics by independent judges (observer ratings), and (3) characteristics of shoes (cues)." (I have access through my university)
So using a self report from the person who is wearing the shoes is a big bias. And, as usual, HuffPost didn't report accurately. I don't think a lot of writers have science backgrounds.

You should send them the correction. I always call them out on their poor editing/fallacious stories.

This could have been interesting if it had actually talked a little bit about how the study was conducted and what story the findings told. Would like to have read more.
