We are impoverished by selfish fools and governed by clowns.

Our representatives do not represent the people, they represent their corporate sponsors. They do not bite the hand that feeds them. Until we end corporate lobbying, campaign contributions and the revolving door, this is the crap for government we will get.

Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JP Morgan Chase is a superior corporate person and campaign contributor operating under the constitutional right to bribery enjoyed by such persons. He came to Congress with lots of cash and checks and got a friendly welcome.

Investment banks add zero to the economy. They are absolutely a zero sum game. Commercial banking, however, is essential to the economy.

It only makes sense to separate the two. Glass-Steagall NOW.

Actually, investment banks add plenty to the economy, especially in the credit sector. However, I agree that commercial banks should be separate. Or the government should stop lending and the guarantees to the current banks, and issue new charters for government guaranteed banks. So you can bank with a GSE bank and be guaranteed, or you can bank at Bill & Ted's Excellent Bank and take your risks.

We agree about separation.

But a serious question: what exactly do investment banks add to the economy? They make no product. They add no value. Money changes hands, but for every winner there is a loser. It is no different from Vegas. It is a zero-sum game.

Should we really be surprised at how this turned out? Given the amount of money in our political system these days.

Day 7563: Republicans continue to attack my family

Nothing will change until we have a REALLY big meltdown. I mean a LOT bigger than the last one.

I saw some of the exchange last night. The GOPers were treating him like he was a rock star. They did everything short of naming a street for him in DC.
