Well, she drives me nuts too--her mouth never stops flapping and her cackle-like laugh -- I used to like her show, but I can't watch her anymore -- her contant chattering and laughing get on my nerves -- and it could be the way she calls the boys "son" -- they each have names and then she always refers to her second husband by his first and last name -- why? he's also annoying.

I find her annoying because she is a phony. I grew up in the South and I know a lot of her type. They talk and act one way in front of others, but they're really just greedy cows.

She lost this weight with drugs - not with exercise and good nutrition. She lost the weight yet she's still shilling her unhealthy glop to anyone who'll pay for her magazine, her furniture line and her pots 'n' pans line, not to mention advertisers.

It is sad with the obesity rates, poor nutrition in this country and she has no problem making money of it. (on both ends)

How come they never print the diets of success. What the people are eating, a typical day. That is what I want to read.

Regardless of what someone else does....it for guarantee sure does not mean it will work for you! Every one is different, and their health issues are as well! If you feel you have health issues that need looking in to by diet and certain foods....you can easily do that yourself! The bad foods are always obvious, and never change...it goes by fat, carbs, sugar, ....which is no fast foods.... limit sugar, if you can leave it out, then do so. Limit breads, or rid your diet of it all together! Eat plenty of Vegetable, fruits, fiber, and drink lots of water through out the day....limit coffee. Drink complete whole juice, not concentrated....with no added sugar! Eat Fish, and Chicken unless you want a complete vegan diet.....then you have to up your intake of protein with more Beans [ any kind , which is under the fiber ] Greek yogurt is best to start the day, but the complete one with no sugar added, such as Fage 0%. String cheese, nuts and fruit are excellent snacks! Up your cardio work outs, and you should be feeling fabulous in no time! But, it is as close to what every one else does in regards to health transformation! If still confused on how to make a meal...look up Diabetic diets....they have the best on line for how to compose a meal.

I would love to know which culprit is the WORST in the development of diabetes. Exercise OR diet? I know, the obvious answer I'll get is "both". I have a suspicion that the reason we get so much diabetes is....inactivity and no exercise. In our comfy air conditioned homes we never sweat. Is it that particular part of the equation that is more responsible for the epidemic of obesity and diabetes? My grandfather lived to be 86 and ate pretty much anything he wanted. Eggs and bacon for breakfast almost daily and other high fat foods with garden veggies on the side. However, he was incredibly physically fit and active up to the last of his days. It's our lazy butts that's the culprit.

Part of it is a simple change in lifestyle. We don't walk nearly as much as we used to, before cars took over our daily routines. That and portion size in meals: take McD's over the last forty odd years: hamburger: two ounces of beef. Double hamburger, Quarter pounder, Big Mac: 4 ounces. Angus deluxe: third pound (5.33 OZ). Double quarter pounder: 8 oz. Beverages have swelled from around 8 oz (plus ice) to superjumbocolossal size. When I was a kid and I needed to go somewhere I hardly ever got chauffered around. I took my bike or walked.

Mama should have also told you to not be so hateful. The woman contacted a disease that demanded a lifestyle change, and for that she's a "two faced Jezabel?" I watched my parents go blind from Type 2 Diabetes. Now I have it, and I've always loved to eat. You watch what you eat or you do go blind, lose limbs, not to mention diabetic coma or death. So if you truly feel the way that you do because Ms. Dean had to lose weight and change her lifestyle as far as eating, then perhaps Mama should have also taught you empathy and compassion. I'm not even a 'fan' of the woman, but I know what Type 2 diabetes can do to someone who doesn't follow what keeps one healthiest living with the disease: maintain a proper weight, proper diet, and exercise, first hand.

Quite good, actually but nothing comes close to real whipped potatoes, an occasional treat these days (that my mom made at least three times week) that doesn't survive any alteration. I have seen variations that, well, suck. The original is still the best.

Exactly. My husband loves mashed cauliflower and he was a mashed potato fiend. I cook the entire head (organic) in organic sodium free organic chicken broth, with garlic. Then drain, puree, and I do whip with a small amount of Greek Yogurt.

Hopefully she gets off the pharmaceuticals and really focuses on healthy eating!

She likely had some shakes to supplement meals in her diet to help with the weight loss, probably like those in the 90 Day Challenge (jbedria.bodybyvi.com) since they seriously taste like cake mix... If I was her nutritionist, I'd DEFINITELY recommend those to her!!

Either way, happy to see Paula is deciding to get healthy AND quit smoking! Did anyone else even know she smokes? I honestly had no idea...

I like Paula Deen, but her and her boys are a lot like Beyonce and JLo, they were ok when they first came out but now its just overkill and they need to take a hiatus for a looooong time.

Paula,
It's not your fault!
Unfortunately we live in a society where the cards are stacked against us.
It's hard to stay thin no matter what you're eating.
One needs to be really conscious if what they put into their bodies. Now more than ever before in human history.
Many of the ingredients in our packaged foods are harming and stressing the body.
This can lead to weight gain, and chronic illness.

The cards are never stacked against anyone. It's a matter of education. If one chooses to educate themselves, then they'll make better decisions.

Paula CHOSE not to eat a healthy diet. She made herself sick and all for profit. She 'sold' to those who didn't want to educate themselves either.

Yes, it IS Paula's fault. She knew what she was doing. She had her eye on the prize all the time and all those $$ were and still are reflecting in her eyes.
01:44 PM on 06/30/2012
Thanks for your reply. I agree that there are different levels of "Healthy Diet"
I agree that education is really important as well.

The unfortunate thing is that that there is so much misinformation floating around out there. the news is always talking about coffee and red wine.

Some days it's very beneficial to our health, and other reports claim to stay away from them. People in general don't know which way to turn.

There are many contradictions in the health world. I think people need to see all the options and trust their own bodies and what appeals to them. There is no one size fits all way to be healthy.

When people are listening to the messages their bodies are sending them then thy are better able to navigate their own way.

www.hownutrition.com has some great free programs on our website that help people get to that level where they can actually feel the effects on a higher level based on what goes into their mouths. Thanks so much for talking with me!

I can't get to your comments on her hair, teeth and mole -- Cripes, forgot the mole - -maybe surgically removed -- I think that's her real hair -- pictures of her when she was younger - she had thick hair, but it's way too long -- cut it and thin it -- and the teeth -- maybe false teeth-- no one's teeth are that white -- (brings back a NCIS episode where Magee over-bleached his teeth). And she said she used to drink gallons of sweet tea daily and that would stain her teeth big time.
08:44 PM on 06/28/2012
Her cooking style got here fat and diabetic. She put it out there like it was all ok. She realized it isn't if she didn't know it all along. She stops eating it and what about the others who she introduced to the food equivalent of cigarettes.

P. Deen looks simply fabulous. It had to be a struggle to loose all that weight, working around all that food and licking every morsel’s of food off from those fingers of hers. It’s finger licking good you all.

No, you can love her -- you are entitled to your opinion -- we don't have to like her -- we are entitled to our opinions -- I find her loud and annoying and needing to be the center of attention, no matter what show she's on -- she was on The Chew last week and all you could hear was her voice over everyone else's. If she'd tone it down and stop making those disgusting fattening meals, she'd be more likeable.

Agree. She's a phony. She's a trailer-trash gal that made good but at the bottom of it all, she's still the same trailer-trash gal. She never LEARNED a thing about how to be an honest, graceful, low-key, classy person. All the 'big house' and 'big business' will never make a difference if she doesn't have the right stuff INSIDE.
