How many homes did they bulldoze in Palestine as punishment for this graffiti?

It's interesting to me that every major religion has "factions" within it that have split, most commonly over interpretations of each religion's divine word or law, into contentious, sometimes violently opposed groups...

Islam has Shi'ite and Sunni as the two main factions, but there are many others as well within Islam...

Christianity, well, there are too many to count, but it's also broken down into two main factions, Catholic and Protestant, and then sub-divided endlessly beyond that…

Judaism is not so much divided into factions, as measured by degrees of Orthodoxy (or extremism, by some measure), although Zionism introduced a wrinkle that has plagued the debate over Judaism for quite a long time…

Buddhism has numerous divisions as well, but because of its nature is not as fractious nor does it suffer the open hostility between factions that other religions do. Still, there are many differing practices and modifications within the Buddhist religion (Zen, Taoism, etc.).

I don't know a great deal about Hinduism, but I do know it too has different factions, and many forms of practices within it.

It's amazing how many interpretations and degrees of extremism exist across all religions… equally amazing is how most of them declare that their variant is right, and often the ONLY one that's right and that every other differing thought on the matter of divinity…. is wrong.

No wonder we're endlessly in conflict as a species…

Just to correct an error here. Taoism is not a form of Buddhism. While they are similar in philosophy, Taoism and Buddhism developed independently about three hundred years apart. Taoism seems to be an out growth of shamanistic and pagan religions common to China at the time.

However, you are correct about the rest of your points. There are hundreds if not thousands of different sects of Buddhism.

If one considers evolutionary theory, variation is the driving force behind all creative action, good or bad. The actions that succeed, good or bad, appear to be necessary within the current context. But they will never be permanent or always right. Viva la difference.

Taoism and Buddhism have met and merged/cross-pollinated in some places, much like Zen Buddhism and the Shinto religion in Japan (which lives side by side compatibly with Buddhism… yet lots of crossover and integration occurred over the centuries… most Japanese I know declare themselves as both Shinto and Buddhists). Buddhism is unique among the major religions in that it neither tries to impose itself forcefully on other religions, nor do they have much in the way of violent disagreement amongst their own sects… it does say good things about the belief system they practice, doesn't it… If you need "something" but are weary of the "wrathful god" meme, that's one to look into, for sure … ;)

It would be good if the reason for this were that Jews no longer want to be characterized by the Holocaust, revenge and hatred for ever and ever.
Unfortunately that is not the case
Letting go of the Holocaust would be a big step forward for Israel and the world at large.
As a Brit kid living in London I was bombed out three times in WW2
My ancestors were overrun and occupied by the Vikings, the Romans and the French and the Danes. They were not cuddly.
It may not add up to a Holocaust , but it was bad, and assure you I never give it a thought.

It depends on context.

If I were to hunt down your brothers & sisters. Hunt down their kids. And hunt down your grandkids.

With the express purpose of total annihilation of your line.

I assure you.

You will want to remember your losses.

And you will not want to forget me.

And what I have done.

It's a similar kind of sentiment with the Jews.

So now you understand why they may disagree with you.

But the Nazis are gone, never to return.
I don't see the ancient victims of Israel's genocides still playing the victim card, just the fresh ones that are still being persecuted.
How many races does the Torah say that the Jews annihilated?
What goes around, comes around eventually. That is the lesson of history, and the only way to stop the wheel from spinning is to jump off of the cycle of violence.

No sense at all. Endless war is the choice of the jews. Murder is what they enjoy most for breakfast. The religious rationales are something that should be treated with drugs and therapy, not with foreign aid.

Actually...your ancestors first arrived in Britain many millennia ago only to be overrun by the Celts who showed up, set up camp and stayed. Then the Romans came. They slaughtered many a Celt, but still, the Celts survived (Even giving Britain it's name, incidentally). After the Roman empire crumbled, the Angles and the Saxons arrived. They occupied the southern part of the island which came to be known as England or The Land of the Angles. The Vikings and Danes arrived and occupied a portion of the island, mostly in the territory just south of Hadrien's Wall.

The final invasion was of the Normans from France.

Almost all of these were occupation/colonization and did not involve rounding up every person of a particular ethnicity to slaughter them. So your comparison is a bit off.

Please, also remember that the English, Scots, and Irish are still arguing over battles that were fought centuries ago. The English still, to this day, hold ceremonies marking the Battle of Culodeen Moor

They're the modern-day Pharisee.

And they consider secular Israelis, impure sinners.

If their messiah is as wise as he is purported to be, he would shun them to mingle with sinners just as Jesus did 2,000 years ago.

Just fine. Israel's GDP in 2010 was $217.33 billion.

The US gave military grants to Israel in 2010 that totaled under $3 billion (and 74% of that is actually spend in Israel). I don't know what (if any) aid the UK gives to Israel, but it will be less than that.

Why not do some research into the Israel economy before making comments that are blatantly false?

The truly surprising thing about what poses as an "article" is that there still remain so many people - and authors - that like to cast all Jews, or Blacks, or Hispanics as the same clonic followers as the Republiclones.

Any god that allows the holocaust to happen is a god not worth praying to.

It's simple logic:

After ignoring the prayers of millions of dying Jews, why should this jagoff god suddenly answer your lil' prayer?

And if this god answers your lil' prayer, wouldn't that make him a jagoff for ignoring prayers from millions of butchered Jews?

If gods exist:

Then answering your prayers, makes them jagoffs.

But if they don't answer your prayers, then praying is useless.

This is the dilemma of made-up gods.

Maybe God did not answer because corrupt Jewish bankers created Hitler

So you're saying this jagoff "god" decided that letting millions of women & children get butchered was a worthy trade to spite a few bankers.

#1 This god is a jagoff not worthy of my time.

#2 This god is unwise and contradicts the definition of a god.

#3 This god is a childish brat. Ergo; in one way, I am superior to it.

#4 There are no gods.

Two days ago in Timbuktu Sunni Muslim extremists destroyed UNESCO World Heritage sites dedicated to Sufi(Muslim) saints. In the Swat Valley of Pakistan, local Taliban have dynamited statues of Buddha that are over a thousand years old. In the name of Christ and Allah, millions of innocents have been murdered. If religion has caused so much irrational and destructive behavior, just imagine how much more irrational and destructive religious extremists of all faiths are. The chains of human decency and the bindings of morality are all removed when you are doing "God's work." Let's hope that the perps in this case get long and unpleasant prison sentences.

This entire piece is BS.
They did it to get the wrong type of attention.
They do the destruction themselves, then blame it on innocent Americans who are against Israel.
Israel consistently provokes America and we ALWAYS stand down.

Take out Israel and watch lasting peace ensue.

Yes its BS, but not for the reasons you site. The Orthodox want a religious state, the govt is far too secular for them. The crazed fundies in this country are far worse -- they want to establish a christian country and abolish the consitution by doing it.

The article is written with a lot of bias, the Orthdox want to practice cultural and religious Judaism, in which if you want to devote your life to study of the texts its provided for. I am not saying that its any more or less dangerous. The long term goals of the Satmar in Brooklyn would strip everyone else of their constitutional rights, and their method of taking of nyc is simple -- a dozen kids for everyone. Its not that far off from Mormons and the white horse prophecy.

I'm against what these guys did...but all Jews (men of Judah) and inhabitants of Jerusalem should remember what THEIR God said through their Prophet Jeremiah as they Zionist leaders deal with the Palestinians and Iran [and possibly Syria & Egypt]: "If at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom, that I will pluck up and break down and destroy it, and if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I intended to do to it. And if at any time I declare concerning a nation or a kingdom that I will build and plant it, and if it does evil in my sight, not listening to my voice, then I will relent of the good that I had intended to do to it. Now, therefore, say to the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: ‘Thus says the Lord, Behold, I am shaping disaster against you and devising a plan against you. Return, every one from his evil way, and amend your ways and your deeds.’ Jeremiah 18:7-11
