It appears that holding a baby in one hand and a hotdog/beer in the other turns one into a foul-ball magnet.

So Al Bundy was a the game...Al would have done that...in fact on several episodes he do that...and ya it was a TV show about a dysfunctional family...but Al would have done that and they would have made a whole series about it trying to make it look right only to find out it wasn’t…

It was probably just a gut reaction to catch it. He's lucky he didn't drop his child. Some people have that talent.

Look, folks, let's be honest here. Odds are that you'll seldom, if ever, get to catch a ball in a stadium. On the other hand, it's easy to have another kid...some even say it's even fun. To me this was a perfectly rational decision.

Better a perfectly rational decision than a modest proposal!

For the dissenters out there, I ask you; What would you do if you were holding a baby, and a baseball came directly at you?

Would you sit and do nothing and potentially be hit or have the child be hit by the ball?

Would you try to jump out of the way in an attempt to protect the child, throwing yourself off balance?

Would you reactively try to catch the ball?

Now, look at HOW he catches the ball. This guy has caught a baseball more that just a couple of times. He knew where the baseball was in relation to himself, and thus the baby.

I'd be more concerned about the idiot on the rail above him who tried for the ball falling on them.

He sure had to sand up and stretch for a ball that, "came directly at him".

I watched it again, I thought he was sitting on the back of his chair and reached up. He does jump a little. You are right.

But, look at how he did it. It wasn't wild, and it is how ball players catch balls. He knew where that ball was, and knew he could safely catch it.

So you think the ball came directly at him? Watch it again...

Lol, I can assure you that the man knew full well that he could hold the child and snag the ball; otherwise he wouldn't have tried. Our overriding directive when holding a baby is, "Don't drop the baby!" All other considerations are secondary. His left hand reacted reflexively as if he were wearing a glove. Once you do that 10,000x, it's second nature.

Are you blind He shook that baby senseless and held him to tight. Didnt you ever hear of the baby shaking snydrome. He should be arressted along with everyone who cheere him on. They were all part of hurting that kid. I hope they had medical attention for the baby. He needs it. So you think it is second nature to shake a baby. I hope you are not a parent. You all need your heads examined. Someone should shake you.Lets see how you like it dangling helpless over bleachers. We can see the baby came second.

God, he was lucky. Put off balance by a kid like that, he could have dropped the ball!
What a laughing stock he would have been among his friends the next day.
Just goes to show, once again, that when people have kids they lose all sense.

What a moron.  If he had misjudged the ball and it had it the bottom of his palm and caromed onto the baby's head, it would not be amusing.  The baby would at the least have a fearsome bruise or cut and the bozo would be arrested for child endangerment.
09:59 AM on 07/03/2012
If this happened he would have this then that would have happened because this could have happened. He caught the ball and it looked cool. End of.
