"Back in front of James Day Park, a man wearing an Ohio State shirt pedaled by Larissey and her friends and stared open-mouthed at the amount of police and security in and around the park.
"What the hell?" he said quietly, causing an outburst from Larissey."

The Ohio State shirt should have been a dead giveaway. #goblue

"A retired nurse, Larissey said she was not a supporter of the president.
"But I respect the office, despite my political agenda," she said."

I like that. It's becoming less common as our political discourse gets tougher.

That was before elected officials were provided from the criminal bank of corporations. It would be nice if things were a bit less corrupt again.

I see a lot of voter apathy in our future. People are depressed over the economy, inflation, lack of jobs. No motivation to start a business. No security in savings or investment. Banks are willing to send out credit cards, but nothing in the way of private loans or home loans. Still shoveling out of debt, no shopping. No enthusiasm in the immediate future. Middle class feels dumped on over and over again. But the sun will come out tomorrow, bet your last bottom dollar.

Everything you mentioned is a result of outsourcing. The bankers stole all of the money out of the banking institutions, it went into their personal accounts, we bailed out the institutions and the money was invested offshore. We don't make anything, that's why we're broke. IKt's a desending spiral. We won't pull out of it until we stop the outsourcing.

I am unfanning every self important so called "liberal" and "progressive" I see on this thread who disparage my state and its people.

I will stand up for my state and the people who live here. Your propensity towards slandering us all based on what you may "think" about us or based on your minimal interactions with us shows you to be exactly the type you rail against.

It's rather sickening.

And that goes for those who say things about ANY state.

I know I don't know everything, and when I start believing that I do I know how closed minded and ignorant I truly am.

I suggest you all learn that lesson.

Parma is the largest suburb of Cleveland. A lot of them became Reagen Democrats in the 1980s. It is within Cuyahoga County which since forever votes Democrat but not because of Parma, as I recall.

I follow Pollster and Nate Silver. I believe in the "favorability " index. It got "W" elected twice on the "who would you most like to have a barbie and a beer with?" question. Truman "spoke" to the common man on his WhistleStop campaign in 1948 from the caboose platform of a train. He raised his favorability enough to win.

Obama's favorability rating is now at "48.9 %", pretty consistently there for months. Romney has risen to "41.3%." Congress is at "11.8%" favorable and "69.4%" unfavorable; the House is controlled firmly by the Republicans who have been doing not much and people know this. Nate Siilver, crunching numbers, thinks that Obama will win, as does Bill Cunningham, the conservative talk host. Maybe it will come down to like it was in high school, the most "likeable" kid wins, though the other one promised longer recess and better food in the cafeteria for all.

Are Americans also unhappy with the do-nothing republican congress? If so their choice should not be Romney. Obama may have problems. But at least he has done a lot of good for America. I will take good over bad every time. Especially if the alternative is Romney.

The Obama administration has been an abysmal failure relative to the needs of the country at large. Yes, he has given billions of stimulus dollars to state governments that are having budget problems, yes, he perverted the bankruptcy of GM to screw bond holders and stockholders and gave away 45% equity in the new GM to his union friends, yes, he continues to give taxpayer money to green energy companies whose investors are political cronies of Obama, yes he has continued to encourage illegal immigration particularly of Hispanic descent, yes he continues to borrow and spend at unprecedented levels pushing the national debt up by $5 Trillion exceeding all Presidents before him combined. He has forced the single largest tax increase on the American people in the form of Obamacare which has 21 tax increases embedded in it of which 75% will be paid by Americans making less then $120K per year. He has ignored existing laws and bypassed Congress over and over again and continues to use executive riders to bypass the normal lawmaking process. He and Eric Holder have done a good job of moving socialism into our government and setting up Obama as the closest thing to a dictator in or history. And, he is not done yet...he needs another term to finish the job.

A great post but the liberals won't get past the 'failure' part because they are so simple minded. Keep it up!

Mitt may not be the best thing the Repubs have ever come up with but he out shines Obama by a mile!

Rush Limbaugh...
You know he’s a vote for Mitt Romney... at least he’d better be,

“If you listen to right-wing radio, Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck and the rest
of their ilk proclaiming they're doing their "patriotic" duties... you know how they always cover for Romney’s blunders and lies... there's a big reason why.”

That's who they work for... In 2008, Bain Capital acquired Clear Channel Radio and 850 radio stations for $24 billion.

Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital is a co-owner of Clear Channel Radio...

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck, the three stooges of conservatiove talk radio, are syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks,
which is owned by Clear Channel.

No wonder Rush, Sean and Glenn have only good things to say about Romney and the Republicans... he owns them.

GOP game plan for 2012 (And always) :

Sabotage the government so it stops working……

Blame the Democrats -

For the government not working!

Get back in power and do NOTHING…..

Except give more tax cuts to the very rich – at the expense of the rest of us!

DEM Game Plan:
Socialize health care so we can raise taxes.
Blame the repubs:
For everything that ever goes wrong.
Pretend that there are no homeless while animals and global warming take precedent over the economy and health care.

If you are for yourself and for America then the choice is very clear. Romney's ONLY plan for America is taxes for the rich. Obama will get rid of that tax for guys for Romney and if ONLY does that he will have helped us all.

Calm down and get your words together Joan. You just covered the two choices in this election. America or Romney! Obama hasn't hurt us at all. He has helped as much as he could without help from the right. You ever consider running for office?:)
06:19 PM on 07/07/2012
He hasn't? Did CNN tell you that?
While he plans on doing something about the national debt, it rises, because he's too afraid to be opposed by congress.
He isn't doing anything, due to his fear.

Amen to that. We have seen success and improvement and it has to stay consistent for it to gain momentum again.

Sometimes when a nation almost breaks, it takes a lot of patience, wisdom, and boldness without fear to start the healing. Keeping the momentum going is up to all of us, the G op's too.

This man has done nothing to warrant a second term....unless adding further division to this nation....among other things...is the criteria. He is quick to take credit for things he had no control over....and even quicker to blame when things go wrong. A second term means he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected...and will likely turn loose even more radical ideas designed to dismantle anything remaining that Americans hold sacred.
