The CBC should be abolished! And, so should all the other 'hyphenated' caucuses. Let's everybody, regardless of race, creed, or color just do what's best for AMERICA. Period.

shadddduppp! Who's gonna advocate for these minority groups? Benevolent whites out of the kindness of bleeding hearts? You're sentiment is so naive and jingoistic it belongs on the Rush Limbaugh Comedy Show.

I happen to be african american. CarolynK is, unfortunately, my rep. She has accomplished NOTHING for our community!
Perhaps, they could get something done if they banded together and worked for the collective good.

PS. read a profile before you make an @ss of yourself, in the future.

Yes, push for your agenda as well. Everyone else is. The cities have been disenfrancised for years. If not now, when will the cities get the help they desperately need with regards to schools, investment and other projects. I cried the other night when I heard about the school in SC. Totally embarrassing that we have schools like that in this country. Time to get to work!

" ... your agenda"?

The housing plan, bank bailout & budget is AMERICA'S agenda.

The CBC should fit their plans within the national framework;- identify suitable shovel ready contracts & prepare bids like everyone else.

I don't think congressional representatives actually 'bid' on projects (the contractors who want to work on the projects do the bidding). And I suspect that part of putting their 'agenda' on the table is talking about or 'identifying' things their districts/constituents to the President. You (and others) also seemed to miss the part of the article where Rep. Lee says they are committed to working w/ the President. some of this meeting will also likely be spent w/ the members of the CBC letting the President know what they can and will do for him.

I expected this. And, it's necessary. Latinos, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans, Arab-Americans, and whites have concerns. And, so do African-Americans, the group most loyal to Democrats.

Actually, the story gets it only half right about something. Yes, it is true, "many senior caucus members initially backed Hillary Rodham Clinton", but when all of the members were tallied at the end of 2007, Clinton was only marginally ahead of Obama in support from the Black Caucus.

Indeed, they have every right to press him on issues important to them.

I agree... they are no different than any other group and should have their agenda on the table as well.

Obama will have the opportunity to thank Bobby Rush first hand, for playing the race card with Burris.

Now isn't it just a fine mess having Burris as a senator! Yes Bobby, just why WOULD you want to prevent a black man from going to the senate?

Why? Because he as corrupt as the Gov. that put him there!

I think Mr. Rush's' activities should be reviewed and watched very closely. Birds of a feather flock together.

Why, was he among that group that had dealings with Abramoff?
