It's a horrible magazine and a spectacular business failure. I give it 6 months tops.

That's the current Newsweek. Prior it was legendary, groundbreaking and a gem. Time and mismanagement have really done a number on it.

Did Diller mention if they'd consider trying journalism at some point?

'Cus that could work, too.

CNN told them and Newsweek did not believe them.

Newsweek wasn't liberal or conservative. It was just corporatist BS. No critical reporting. Nothing useful or thought provoking...unless you have a 4th grade reading level.

Exactly. It's garbage

I can't believe anyone reads Newsweek. Its about as useful as reading the WSJ editorial page.

Newsweek only seems left wing if your political alignment is somewhere to the right of Rush Limbaugh. Newsweek is pure corporate propaganda.

I used to love reading news magazines. But like newspapers, they simply can't compete with the internet when it comes to up-to-the-minute news. And the web does it with audio and video. That's a hurdle print media can't overcome.

I love News Week and it's fine to call me a liberal, socialist, lefty...whatever. I take it all in stride and find it quite complimentary. So have at it!

A shocking decline. The solution is to be like a better, American version of the Economist. But they won't do it in their pursuit of the barbershop and doctor's office crowd.

Fo' shame.

Those of us able to read, usually, which leaves out the right wing. If Newsweek didn't spend so much of its time trying to cater to the illiterates in the name of "objectivity," more of us literate types might actually pick one up every now and then.

Sigh. Fewer people than those who read it when it was somewhat realistic - that is, even further "left".
