If the IRS is wasting time on people making less than $106,000 - I say Al Capone was criminal lets simplify our tax code and close the loop hole instead of (R) & (D) just talking about it. Their vested interests in common sense tax laws go against their own interest not the majority of the people of United States of America.

How much tax revenue is lost due to rich people not paying on the offshore accounts alone. Answer: Yes Mr. Rumsfeld! I would say that is unknowable.

The totally reckless animal in me says we should just invade countries that harbor tax dodgers. But if I stop to let my rational side into the discussion....oh screw it.

Lets hear what Romney has to say about cracking down on tax evaders?

Republican voters out there who have to make up for his evading his taxes, do you think he's gonna crack down on evading taxes if elected?

Let's hear what 'Obama' has to say about HIS tax dodging! That is if he can grow the spine enough to hit back and campaign in the hard hitting personal-attack style Romney is pursuing.

This conversation should be completely bi-partisan. Just because Romney is a pioneer in the fine art of Tax dodging-he must be or why wouldn't he let us see his tax returns?-doesn't mean Obama isn't himself a tax scofflaw. After all Obama grew up one of the wealthiest ....ummm then again, well he did grow up with the proverbial silver spoon in his.....hmm maybe he hasn't had the opportunity to develop any real tax dodge skills but how could we know? oh that's right he's released many, many years of tax returns, hasn't he?

This "crack down" has been going on for years - when are they actually going to start collecting those taxes with penalties?

If a government wants to collect their "fair share" of taxes make a national sales tax and get rid of the personal income tax. All purchases except food and rent and healthcare should be taxed upon sale. There is no hiding income, there is no tax shelters. A buyer will be unable to avoid the tax. Or is the IRS just a jobs program?

With if the buyers are buying from themselves, but taxing everyone else. It will never end.

Corporate tax returns would reveal that sales are too high in proportion to their paid taxes.

Bot true, they can do all their purchasing off shore, I knew people who lived on border states that had no or low sales tax and they traveled over the line to do all their shopping

RICO laws on tax evasion - get rid of the trusts, if the trusts are a major portion of the flight from paying taxes. When individuals make a great amt of money, it has to be hard to hide it. I think they have special rules that Congress has put in place. How many politians (past and present) would be on this list?

No and it is not as hard as they claim, they were able to rrack and freeze accounts held by Bin Laden and other suspected terrorists after 9/11 where there is a will there is a way!
01:45 PM on 07/26/2012
I guess the will just isn't there - all those friends in high places have to be protected.

With all the technology today seems to me it is time to make people accountable. I am so sick of these cheats thinking they are so much more clever or better then everyone else. It is not like it isn't a well known fact that the very wealthy hide a majority of their income along side drug dealers, financial "wizard" criminals etc just to avoid paying taxes to the country they live in . Meanwhile they benefit from all the services that the rest of their countrymen are paying the bill for so yes GO GET THEM AND take what they owe just like you do to the average person who does not pay their taxes

Where there is a will there is a way, after 9/11 the US was able to track and freeze accounts of Bin Laden and other suspected terrorist - they need to apply the same to financial terrorist- but it just shows how the GOP will pass laws that allows the wealthy to avoid taxes even though it leaves the door wide open for drug cartels and terrorist to launder and funnel money,

If only  this would become one of the top priorities  finding,  exposing  these crooks and re-cooping  like they do with drug dealers. Take  back the houses cars  bank accounts   all the toys sell them and  put  the money in the treasury  where it should have gone  then  to good use ie education healthcare   something good

baffle 'em with b.s.....make everything about an account so confusing that even when the tax guys are lookin' right at it they still won't be sure of what they're seeing
big money will fight this transparency until most of us are dead and gone and the well paid bankers and politicians will hinder it's success at every conceivable opportunity and some we couldn't conceive of
if the fight continues after death there may be a chance for justice to prevail but the rules for that time frame are murky at best which always seems to favor big money
