Taxes Don't Pay For Anything: MMT
05:55 PM on 07/27/2012
You really need to read just how Mitt and Bain set up this company for financial rape.

http://tinyurl.com/6tzqy2q

Romney's experience with Dade, Bain’s biggest transaction at the time, shows how Bain managed its investments, structuring deals so it would be hard for Mr. Romney and his partners not to come out ahead.

Bain and a small group of investors bought Dade in 1994 with mostly borrowed money, limiting their risk. They extracted cash from the company at almost every turn — paying themselves nearly $100 million in fees, first for buying the company and then for helping to run it. Later, just after Mr. Romney stepped down from his role, Bain took $242 million out of the business in a transaction that, according to bankruptcy documents and several former Dade officials, weakened the company.

Even some people who benefited from that payday and found it reasonable at the time now question it. “You would have to say, looking back, that it was too large, because it pushed us into bankruptcy,” said Robert W. Brightfelt, a former Dade president who collected more than $1 million.

Yep, set up trhe Middle Class just like he with Dade. extract from them their income surplus and destroy there credit rating then watch them go to the poor house.

One hell of an economic plan you've got there Mr. Big Biddness Man.

Any reason for this outburst? He said he'd work to insure millions of uninsured and he has. He said he'd end DADT and he did. He promised to end the unfunded wars and he has. He said he'd go after bin Laden and got him. He said he'd work to end the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and he's doing just that. He has been working on equal rights for LGBT, supports women's reproductive rights, and wants to help the lower and middle classes prosper so that we are able to help drive the economy again. I see no evidence of the fraud you accuse him of.
12:39 AM on 07/28/2012
Let me open your eyes to his "Fraud"...
He worked by telling someone else to come up with a Healthcare plan ? Which in no way represents what he said he would deliver which was "Single Payer" "No Mandates". Now we have Universal and Mandates, big difference.

I don't know where you've been but this is the Obama that blasted Bush for being a war monger but know uses military action as a feather in his cap , like entering another country "uninvited" to execute Osama Bin Laden without a Trial (like the due process that was extended to Saddam) and extending our involvement in Afgahnistan for yet 2 more years, and increasing Drone Attacks by almost 30%... And what do you mean by unfunded wars ? since he's extended our involvement in afgahnistan and our country is operating under a massive debt and deficit, I've got news for you, if you are operating at a deficit and operating on borrowed dollars, you still are operating an "UNFUNDED WAR". The list is longer but I wont bore you with facts.

I should also point out that we extended our stay in Afghanistan because the Afghan leadership begged us to. We would have been out right away had they not feared the country would become even more dangerous as soon as we leave. That is still the case, btw. Perhaps you should try more than one news source as yours doesn't seem to be giving you all the info you need.

To the author of this piece of garbage. Did you happen to mention the poll numbers you used come from a poll with a Dem +11 slant? With that thrown in, Obama is in deep doo doo and its nowhere near as good for Obama as you like to pretend.

You don't suppose that we've finally made the transition to a time when people no longer believe everything they see on TV? If we have, then the only impact Super PACs will have is to get the super rich to pull some of their money from their offshore accounts and feed it into our economy. Woohoo!

Are you joking? Mitt wants to end the AHCA so millions are left uninsured again (he has yet to specify what, if anything he'd replace it with), defund Planned Parenthood and make all abortions illegal in all circumstances, wants to skew the tax system to favor the wealthy and screw over the lower and middle classes, believes in tax breaks for companies who send jobs overseas, and believes that the government should be run as if it is a for-profit business. And that's just domestic policies.

Obama is for equal rights for LGBT, women's reproductive rights, affordable health care (yes, he wants to tweak the law and improve it with the cooperation of Congress and the Senate), wants to end tax breaks for the wealthy who have failed to create any jobs after 10 years of breaks, wants to end tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas, and wants to allow those brought here as children to stay if they are willing to attend college or enlist in our military. Romney says he'd deport these same kids even if they don't know any of their relatives back home and have never been in any trouble.

I see lots of differences. Obama 2012

The GOPs tactice for the last 3 1/2 years was to sabotage the economic recovery and then expoit the mess they made and blame it on Obama.

The problem was never Obama, the Problem is the GOP congress.

The GOP intentionally destroyed the economy.. All for political gain in this election.
05:09 PM on 07/27/2012
Umm, Obama had a super majority in the House and Senate for the first 2 years. The republicans were never allowed any say in the policies of the House and Senate then. So how exactly did the GOP thwart Obamas agenda? SO who destroyed the economy again?
Go read a book or 12.

Not true, the republicans had every opportunity to have a say. This president bent over backwards to accommodate them, and for what?Obstruction and more obstruction was their response. The President's$ 447billion jobs bill won't see the light of day because of Cantor and this congress. This is a jobs bill that will actually produce jobs.

A half truth, they only had that so called super majority for 6 months, and during that time Ted Kennedy was out and was sick and dying. So there really was never a Super Majority. And we all know who destroyed the economy, GW Bush ans Dick "Deficits Dont Matter) Cheney, Dont try to lie to us, this is recent history.

Obama’s “Romney as outsourcer” campaign will fail miserably, and this is why. Millions upon millions of American workers are employed by foreign owned businesses producing in the United States. I’ve attached a very abbreviated list of such-
Budweiser, Good Humor/Breyers/Popsicle, Gerber, Citgo, 7-eleven, Frigidaire, Adidas, AlkaSeltzer, French’s Mustard, Caribou Coffee, Church’s Chicken, Trader Joes, Holiday Inn, Dial Soap, Shell Oil, T-Mobile, Firestone, Toll House, Haier Appliance, Eight O’Clock Coffee, Nesquick/Coffeee Mate, American Eurocopter, Starbucks, Rolex, LG Appliances, CVS Pharmacies, K-Mart, Pepsi, Bobcat Equipment, Hellman’s Mayo, IBM/Lenovo, Ben & Jerry’s, Womens Day Magazine, Purina, Vasoline, Luck Strikes, Car and Driver magazine, Michelin, Sodexo, DSM Amour, Sara Lee, Teledyne, Qunincy Compressor, Everlast Sports, Brooks Brothers, Motel 6, Miller High Life, American Idol, Wild Turkey Bourbon, Sony, Reuters ? (really), not to mention; Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Mercedes Benz, Kia, Subaru, Hyundai, BMW, Volvo, Mazda, Isuzu, Volkswagen, etc, etc.
Try to convince all these employees that outsourcing is evil.

Romney wants to increase exports because that will increase jobs. Just what are we going to export? Obviously nothing you mentioned is exportable and everything you didn't mention is already being made over seas by our corporations, and then brought back here. One more thing. Is their anything made in China worth owning? I'm old enough to remember when you could buy quality products, now it's all cheap junk.

Speaking of Chinese junk...I bought a hammer at a local box hardware store. When I got it home to work on a project, it bent with the first strike on the nail. A carpenter friend of mine has had to double the amount of nails he buys because half the nails he buys, that are manufactured in China, are defective.

It is all junk. And when it comes down to it, the costs of such items end up costing you more because of the waste.

Oh he has a plan, but he can't tell you the specifics until after election day. I know what he will do is cut taxes for the "job creators" like himself, and try to make up the difference by doing away with middle class tax deductions. He will do away with medicare and SS as we know it, end Planned Parenthood, increase any fees paid to the federal government that will mostly impact the 99% and then laugh all the way to his Swiss bank. How many millions in tax breaks will Mitt give himself and will it be sent to Cayman Islands, Swiss bank account or a shell corporation in Bermuda. I say do away with all tax breaks.

I have yet to see a single thing from Mitt about what he would actually DO if he were elected. That, I think, is what bothers me the most about his ads. I realize there's always an element of "trashing the other guy" in politics but shouldn't Mitt be talking about what he'd actually DO? If he has a plan why isn't he talking about it?

What he did at Bain doesn't count - the US isn't going to perform leveraged buyouts of the other countries of the world then sell their assets. What concrete steps does the man plan to do in order to resolve this countries problems?
02:01 PM on 07/27/2012
You should just go to Governor Romney's website. He has most of his plans listed on there. His Bain experience is actually very important. This is a man who made a fortune out of purchasing inefficient organizations and turning them into well oiled machines before selling them for a profit. He even was able to look at some of his failing subsidiaries and make the hard decision of liquidating them for the betterment of the whole company. This is exactly what needs to be done to the White House. We need to clean it up and end some of the less effective agencies and departments that are sucking up our federal funding like a vacuum.

In the interest of really weighing my options I will go to his website and see what he has to say. Having said that, if there's a plan why isn't he talking about it? The website is generally where pols put things up to see how it plays; it isn't generally their primary conduit for message distribution. That makes it seem even more dubious that he has this "plan" but isn't talking about it and it's only on his website. Maybe it's only out there to see if it polls well and if so then he can start talking about it. That doesn't instill me with confidence.

I've heard the platitudes about inefficient government - yes of course there are agencies and departments that can and must be cut but the most wasteful of these by far is the DoD - guess what Mitt is bashing Obama for? Why for trying to reduce the waste at the DoD.

Mitt Romney cannot win without the Hispanic vote.
Karl Rove has been very busy making sure Hispanics can't vote.
Maybe they should have had a few "quiet room" conversations.

I find the logic behind this article strange.

The attack ads BY BOTH CANDIDATES have primarily been aired in swing states.

However, these polls are national.

To gain an ACCURATE understanding of the impact of these negative ads, shouldn't the polls ONLY include the swing states?
