do you really think Chick-Fil-A gives a fart about what SF thinks??? NOPE!!!!
07:57 PM on 07/30/2012
Apparently they do. "going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena."

I bet they will sell just as much fried chicken to a gay guy as they will a regular guy.

When did we throw away the constitution and the bill of rights? Anyone in this country has the right to believe in whatever they want, they have the right to like or dislike anyone or anything they choose. By you boycotting and refusing to allow Chik-fil-a into your neighborhood because of the personal opinions or views of the people that run a company, you are no better than the common racist. If someone is gay then I say so be it, to each his own, whatever makes you happy, but I dont believe in gay marriage. I am not very religious, I cant even remember the last time I stepped in a church but I think it was sometime in the early 90's, but I think some things are meant to be left the way they are. Marriage is a union between a man and a woman and thats how it has always been and always should be. Like the people at chik-fil-a, being gay is not the problem, but gay marriage is an issue and i dont believe it is right either. So because I dont believe or think like you should I be denied access to your city? You are like spoiled little children throwing a tantrum, GET OVER IT, YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO GET EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY TO ACCEPT HOMOSEXUALITY OR GAY MARRIAGE and trying to force them to only hurts your cause.

You stand in a long line of homophobic bigots that would deny a group of people the same rights you yourself enjoy. How in the world can you justify this. Read your 14 th Amendment,
or do you hate our Constitution too?

Read my post, im not homophobic. I am just sick and tired this group and that group whining about their rights but they in turn want to deny someone else of theirs. You want your rights but what about their rights to approve or disapprove of whatever they want? You want to take that away. You are the bigot against anyone that is not pro gay. And what does the 14th amendment have to do with homosexuality? It deals with citizenship, due process, and racial/sexual discrimination. Sexual discrimination is the treatment one recieves because of ones gender not sexual preference. there is nothing in the constitution that provides for same sex marriage.

Wow...so Cathy expresses his opinion, which he has a right to, and this is what happens? Where's the tolerance??? Have so many people forgotten the first amendment?

Mayor Bloomberg actually hit the nail on the head this time. To follow San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston's mayors on this issue, they'd have to remove every church and mosque that express their opinions. These guys need to re-read our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

I think people forget that Chick-fil-A has the right to build. I have the right not to eat there when their new restaurant opens in Walnut Creek.
04:44 PM on 07/30/2012
My sentiments exactly! I will never eat at a Chick-fil-A as long as the ownership funds hatred and bigotry, but Chick-fil-A has the right to conduct business, and people who are not bothered by the owner's politics have a right to eat there.

the 'sleepy town of Santa Rosa' is a monument to sprawl has a population of 168,000, and it's twin, Rohnert Park has another 40,000. Together, they are a collection of strip malls and big box stores. Whenever I come into their area, I look down from the hill call it the Valley of People.

On his weekly radio, Bloomberg said it was inappropriate for the government to "look at somebody's political views and decide whether or not they can live in the city, or operate a business in the city, or work for somebody in the city."

How about a whites only dinner?

Islam is virulently anti-gay. Are Muslim businesses welcome in Chicago, Boston or San Francisco? Inquiring minds want to know.

And what exactly is a "Muslim" business? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't buy anything from Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream or buy Hemming's Motor News because of their politics. It's all about choices

Get a life!! People who are against a business that has an American right to have an opinion need to get a life.
Since when have we become a nation that lashes out at anyone who is not for what you have your opinion to.
Does that mean that you should be lashed out at too because someone may feel infringed upon, "I feel bad because someone said something that offends me" Does that mean we should send the offender to hell to burn forever someone was offended, BIG DEAL GET OVER IT.

I wouldn't eat at a restaurant who opposed bi-racial marriage, either.
It's not about 'hurting peoples feelings' it about spreading bigotry.
The fact is, by the time my grandchildren are old enough to vote, they'll likely think we were just as silly as those who believed you could sell/buy a human for slavery.

and i could care LESS! if i like the place, i will eat there!

Santa Rosa is for locally grown, healthy food. I don't imagine Chick- Fil- A will find the city a very profitable place to be. If they go ahead with their plans for a local branch, I expect that they will be forced to close by lack of business.

Santa Rosa believes in human rights and equal treatment under the law. It's a charming town with wonderful shops and restaurants, and a growing location for companies creating jobs. People in Sonoma and Napa Counties - like people in San Francisco and Silicon Valley - believe that factory food causes people to be overweight. Apparently is also keeps them from exercising good judgment and respecting other people.

I've never been in one of these fast food - factory food outlets, I know what real fried chicken tastes like because I grew up in a family that kept chickens in the south. Now, I will be sure never to go in Chick-Fil-A. I don't like to see anyone treated unfairly regardless of their gender identification or lack thereof.
