Come on, we're supposed to be the party who believes in science and reason. Clearly, Obama used to dye his hair and has stopped doing so in order to look more presidential. Nothing's wrong with this.

Could it be that they dyed their hair for the campaign to look energetic, but once elected there were more benefits to looking distinguished?

correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't each of these men a parent to a teenager during this GrayingPeriod?

trust me, no matter what your employment, that alone will strip the pigment from the tresses.

Hehehehe.

Tell me about it.

Although I don't think Raygun had a teen at hand.

Everybody goes gray. President Obama is just at the age where you start getting a little gray. Find anyone is age and you will see some gray hair.

It is a myth that gray hair is caused by stress. Gray hair is caused by biology. As we age our hair follicles stop making pigment.

I wish people would stop believing myths.

Our follicles do stop making pigment. However, the relationship between cortisol levels (a stress hormone) and the DNA changes of aging may exist. There is no easy clean medical definition of "stress." One person's stress may be another's excitement. However, people who have been caretakers for elderly or disabled family members(by many definitions a "stressful" job) may have more telomere unraveling which is a sign of aging in your chromosomes/DNA.

Just because there is on scientific way to look at something does not mean that is the entire story.

Still, all this is preliminary. I just wouldn't be so dismissive at this point.

Reagan and Bush W look like they never turned gray. Clinton and Obama looked like they turned gray overnight. Actually the Republicans appeared to turn less gray than the Democrats. It's a right wing consp-hair-isy!

Maybe it's because they don't give a F***.

If you don't care, there's not that much stress.

its sad to see Obama already have gray so quick. I wonder what he will look at in 2017...
11:31 AM on 03/07/2009
It happens to us all. It is biology. Why do you think it is sad?

My husband is in his early 30's and he's got gray streaks. My grandma is in her 80s and has head full of (undyed) black hair. The timing of your graying is likely to be part genetics and part lifestyle (meaning stress).

A word about the slideshow: Why does the Clinton image look like he's got a big lipstick mark on his cheek? Whoever does these slideshows has a sense of humor.

When you're running for office you want to look young. You color your hair.
When you are the leader of a nation you want to look wise. You let the gray show.

How old are people when they become President? How old are people when they become grey normally? 'nough said.
