TRUTH trumps ideology!

I hope latinos are more intelligent than the log cabin republicans, and will not support a party that regards them as not equal and second class citizens.

His father was a Cuban immigrant to the U.S. His mother was American, and was raised in Delaware, in a family of Irish and Italian descent. So like most of us, he is a multi-cultural American. One has to wonder if the Irish and the Italians were an emerging political force in this country whether he would choose one of those groups as a base for his electoral ambitions.

Many Cubans, Irish and Italians are all ethnics who currently lean Republican. I guess all the signs that they "___ not apply" to jobs/homes etc is water under the bridge. Repubs need to pad their numbers somehow. So they've taken on hard-working ethnics and on the opposite extreme, the supremr acists.

Depends on how many foolish Latinos there are. The more who are, the better it is for Cruz.

My years of AP Spanish makes me more Latino than Cruz. He's half-Cuban and all-nut.

Ted Cruz is about as threatening as Allen West and Herman Cain.

Cubans are far from "Latino" . . and the majority of the current Cubans were decedents of the Mitt Romneys of Cuba, run out by Castro . . and to see them as "Tea Party" favorites is not a stretch . . comes with that "dry foot" migration advantage over the real Latino immigrants . . . .

This is Texas. Hispanic, polka dots, green hair -- it's all the same in Texas: hate, hate, hate, fueled by oil money and flaming anarchist (means wants to do away with government) right wingnuts. Republicans have always found women, Blacks, Hispanics, and whatever who would run on their ticket and tow their line. This guy knows there's a pot of gold at the end of the pretend rainbow.

I work with a lot of hispanics and they don't seem to view Cubans as fellow hispanics.

And Cruz doesn't even speak Spanish.

"Considering the overwhelming support by Latinos for President Obama in the national campaign, does Cruz's rapid rise indicate something is changing at state levels? "

Does the rapid rise in the GOP of a token Hispanic mouthing extremist platitudes and making white bigots feel vindicated indicate something is changing at state levels?

No.

Any more than the wacko Allen West's appearance in Congress in 2011 signaled that African-Americans are rushing to the GOP.

Enough with the breathless speculation.

My guess is that Texans put aside their ethnic phobia in order to get the ultra conservative ideology.

Lol Latino tea party? More like Cuban tea party. I've never met any Latin@ that appeals to the tea party....

Unless they're Cuban. They seem to be the strange exception.

saw him on TV the other night.
Cruz has a creepy factor, creepy as in preternatural.
It was amazing how creepy.

The Republicans are trying to get support from Latinos just with a name, but what about the Republicans who belief the Latinos, including myself, are part of the "Reconquista" where all Latinos from more than 23+ nations have secret meeting to overtake the re-conquest the US and make Spanish the official language. The GOP is alienating some of their hardcore activists.

my neighbor calls her son in law a White Cuban.. perhaps if Latino's in power keep voting against the best interests of their brown cousins .. they might just get their wish
