you don't need professor to tell you that republican plan would destroy this country. all you have to look at is the bush years and what is going on. we have seen that taxes don't create jobs. deregulation creates financial and economical crisises, and austerity doesn't reduce the debt but increases it.

the other fact is that, there are facts about this plans out there, there is real life examples, and ongoing experiment that disproves the republicans plan. but the republicans don't care about facts or reality. they have one goal, to create a society where the rich and corporation rule the people. and the people work for the rich and corporation. republicans want modern day slavery.

When Clinton raised taxes on the wealthy, every republican voted against it, predicting doom amd recession, and Clinton instead left this country with a record surplus.

Why ANYONE listens to anything fiscally irresponsible Bush republicans say is the real mystery.

When did Americans lose their ability to distinguish between intellectual and moral pygmies like Romney and Ryan versus real statesmen ?

Ryan's another GOP f.raud and h.ack. His "plan" is just a composite of many plans that have been in RW think tanks for decades. All of which are just large wealth transfer schemes for the rich. Ryan's just a different messenger with more sugar coating.

Same old, same old. Privatize & voucherize. Screw the elderly. Screw everybody but the wealthy. Up taxes on the middle class, lower taxes on the wealthy. More money for defense (Mitt wants to add $2 trillion) like $650 billion/yr. isn't enough. I've seen this movie before!

Ryan's plan ruins Social security, Medicare, Medicaid and the middle/lower class working families, Karl Marx had it right when he wrote; Under capitalism, the proletariat, the working class or “the people,” own only their capacity to work; they have the ability only to sell their own labor. According to Marx a class is defined by the relations of its members to the means of production. He proclaimed that history is the chronology of class struggles, wars, and uprisings. Under capitalism, Marx continues, the workers, in order to support their families are paid a bare minimum wage or salary. The worker is alienated because he has no control over the labor or product which he produces. The capitalists sell the products produced by the workers at a proportional value as related to the labor involved. Surplus value is the difference between what the worker is paid and the price for which the product is sold.

The factual information that this group is offering will not convince the right that the Paul Ryan paln will not help them or get this country out of debt. The republicans hate Obama so much they would rather eat glass then acutal food that will help them. Wingnuts the info is right there for you, but I forgot the earth is flat, slave owners were nice the KKK was not that bad, etc.. etc...

The SNN fails to realize they have the media against them.

From the Simpson/Bowles "compromise" budget to the "oh my gosh the US is going to go bankrupt unless we pay down the debt in 2 years" meme -- the media is a fickle bunch that follows the prevailing wind of the rich and powerful and amplifies their message - which ever it happens to be that most supports their causes.

This is all basically a much nicer version of the Paul Ryan budget -- austerity in the time of crisis instead of letting tax cuts expire or taxing investment income as REAL income.

Instead of crashing and burning immediately with the Ryan budget, we just slowly burn for years while more money is transferred to the powerful and wealthy because our corrupt Congress -- both Dems and GOP mind you -- do nothing but enrich themselves and their patrons.

So Americans don't understand or know the real details behind health care, budgets, and tax cuts, so a group of partisan (meaning biased) scholars will explain what each individual needs to know in terms that he or she can understand.

Great.

Now the people on the left might actually have an argument that goes beyond "tax returns" and poll tested phrases like "fair share."

Hubris makes for poor company and ignorance makes for a blighted life, just the things Ryan and the GOP hitman strive for. Ignorance makes bad policy so much easier to sell and it appears you're buying.

Paul Ryan has nothing of substance to add to the discourse about economics BUT no one cares. The corrupt wealthy know he is their friend, the working class rubes are easily duped into believing he best represents American values (while ignoring how he rapes their class). The Koch brothers will continue to supply funds to maintain the barrage of media to keep the ignorants behind him, and politics a la "Citizens United" goes on.
The only positive attribute he has is that he is photogenic. (An empty-headed pretty boy).

Now that is a post that is long on substance. Real substance. And it lacks those sweeping generalizations and conspiratorial thoughts that are so common on the right. Obviously there is no need for a group like the SSN.

I'm glad the Scholars Strategy Network is beginning to do the work of counter-balancing decades of misinformation at the behest of charlatan institutions such as the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute. It'll be hard work ahead, but they have the truth on their side. Free market fundamentalism & academia aligned with the Political Right tends to be based on nothing but philosophical conjecture. In fact, if you read the academics (FA Hayek von Mises, Milton Friedman, et al) who devised modern free market fundamentalist theory, not only do they reject empirical facts, they even reject the scientific method the way the Austrian School of Economics does.

Too many people thought Ayn Rand was an actual philosophical intellectual, when in actuallity she esposesd selfishness as rational governance. America has been spoon fed this nonsense as fact and the GOP has been implementing it as policy since Reagan and now "Hurray for me and P*ss on you" is ingrained as the perfect social model.

The Ryan Budget Plan gives millionaires hundreds of thousands more in tax cuts; paid for by the destruction of Social Security and having it replaced with a "coupon."
