The church could never count the number of "stay at home" "what do I call myself now" Catholics.

It doesn't dare.

It is as false an organized religion as any that are out there.

The longer I live the more I see the absurdity of the Catholic Church as imposed by it's hiearchy. It is politically based and mired in right wing politics which has supplanted the real teachings of Christ.

Do we EVER HEAR the Catholic Church speak out about REPUBLICAN POLICIES???

As my dear father would say "WHATS THAT TELL YA!!!.

As I rail against the false Christians who hold their bibles high as they proclaim their relationship to God and yet I see NOTHING that their actions or words that suppot their claims I realized that the Catholic Church had also chosen to forget Christ's teachings as it sought to more influence public policy even affecting those that don't share it's relgious dogma.

It wasn't Vatican II. It is a failed system of forced suppresion of women's health care choices. It's hypocrisy on moral failings of sexual abuse of children where NO LEADER of that church went to jail despite covering up the abuse of others. It's steadfast protection of those priestly pedophiles.

As my non-catholic husband said (and let's be clear - he isn't a hater - he insisted we send our kids to Catholic School) ......he thought that LAPSED CATHOLIC was a sect of Catholicism.

Exactly. The catholic church (i was catholic, went to catholic school) is against the death penalty, and war... But you NEVER hear them go agianst the GOP and those are TWO of the GOP's favorite things .......the only exception lately has been the nuns.....I guess they have had enough of the BS too.......

Obama won't go, it's a Catholic event. Just watch what he does, yet wait till this year when he observes Ramadan & uses the White House for display.

Nonsense.

You sound confused....perhaps you have been swallowing too much tea. Be careful, now - that can do serious harm to your brain.
09:20 AM on 08/08/2012
Obama and his policies are so much more caring and 'Christian' than those of Republicans that Obama should not miss the opportunity to say exactly what he has done that any religious group should be applauding. He certainly should attend.

"Dolan has said the White House policy is "strangling" the church."

Maybe you ought to clean up your Church and stop the Priests from mock strangling children while forcing sex on them.

The Bishop is outraged about women using birth control to plan their families, yet isn't so upset when one of his priests defiles one of those "little ones" intrusted to his care.

..How do you know it's bedtime in the Catholic Church?
When the big hand is on the little hand...

Yes I know this is not politically correct but these cardinals and bishops guys have protected their pedophiles for years.....

While I used to call myself a Catholic and I don't agree with the cardinal, I'll have to believe him when his spokesman says, "this is not a partisan event," Zwilling said. "It is an evening to put politics aside and come together in a spirit of civility."

I'm not expecting Dolan to embarrass the president by saying something about the birth control coverage aspect of the Affordable Health Care Act.

Catholic affiliated institutions should only hire Catholics whose women do not use contraception then. The problem is that almost every Catholic woman I know has used hormonal contraception and/or has used alternative means to conceive. Time for an update.

Well, wonderful for you.  Your are truly a holy person worthy of God's love.  Like I said, the  Catholic women I know do not follow the contraception ban and they use alternative forms of conception when they need to.  I am not Catholic but I am not lying.  Is God going to spank everyone who uses contraception?

The Catholic Church has strangled itself. It started long before the sexual abuse scandal broke and they have always been for male domination. Coming from a very large Catholic family who attended Mass everyday and said the Rosary every night I have watched the changes happening in the church manifest itself in my family. Out of 84 first cousins that also were raised deeply Catholic I have watched as the majority of them have stopped thinking the church was infallible. I do not pretend to know why this happened. It may have been a result of Vatican II and the removal of the secretive cloak the church practiced under. The results are the same no matter the reason. There are a lot of Catholics out there that don't trust the leadership of the church and the church only has as much power as the congregation is willing to give them.
