These "conservadems" and other moderate democrats have been pivotal in preventing a multitude of positive progressive changes ever since St. Ronald occupied the Oval Office.

But even worse, they have aided and abetted Republican Administrations in creating such insane policies as the war in Iraq, the subversion of the Constitution, the deregulation of just about everything and, of course, the selling of the government to the highest bidders and wealthiest lobbyists.

While they are a bunch of jackbooted thugs, at least Republicans can come together and vote as one on issues that are important to them. This never seems to happen with Democrats.

We need a parliamentary system in this country!

These are the same (DINO-types) servants-of-the-vested-interests who torpedoed Jimmy Carter's proposed energy policy to take the country off of its addiction to oil, and others of his progressive policy proposals. They're the same ones who demanded his de-regulatory moves, as well...and now we see where that has taken us.

Actually , seeing the Olbamaddow ratings (24rth cable network)they shuld work on exposing themselves
02:21 PM on 03/19/2009
That is pretty good for a prime network. You don't get MSNBC in the trailer parks unless you pay more for it I guess.
02:22 PM on 03/19/2009
They ratings are up about 23% this year so what is your point?
02:32 PM on 03/19/2009
and meanwhile Fox's is dropping...

It's a beautiful thing.

This may be part of another agenda, No?
02:44 PM on 03/19/2009
Yes but I'm sure no one wants to say it just yet. It will become more clear in the upcoming months.

How do you say Deee-Lovely? Rachel Maddow of course!

Good reporting. Hope she does a more in-depth review of the ConservaDems soon.

Some Dems are "Conservadems"....

And Democrats wouldn't control Congress without them.

Then the answer seems to be to replace the Conservadems with real, progressive Democrats.

Sure...if you don't want them to win elections in conservative districts.

But if you want to trade away the majority for ideological purity, be my guest.

So essentially they were elected because WE thought they were democrats and now they are showing their true colors. Their states voted for Obama, how about a nationwide constituent holler to all their states demanding recall on all of them? In WA state our democratic senators ARE REAL democrats...apparently that is not the case with all these new found LIARS! Their states should be OUTRAGED. At the very least these 'blue dogs" are all trying to become the next president - losing out to Joe Biden for the #2 seat obviously didn't set well with Bayh.
02:04 PM on 03/19/2009
LISTEN TO THOSE YOU FRAME AS BEING "CONSERVADEMS", RACHEL, and LEAD IN A DISCUSSION WHERE THEIR VIEWS, AND THE VIEWS OF SUPPORTERS OF THE PRESIDENT'S BUDGET CAN FIND SOME KIND OF COMMON GROUND.

USE THE LIGHTS IN THE BOX TO PROMOTE DIALOGUE, CRITICAL THINKING, INFORMATIVE DISCUSSION.... NOT....BROAD ASPERSIONS AGAINST THEM.

There should be a place for their voices in our party, or we are NOT who we say we are, and become alarmingly - like those across the aisle, who make disparaging remarks about fellow republicans because of their beliefs.

We can do better, Rachel Maddow.
You can do better. Lead a discussion. INFORM the public, LEAD a discussion, LISTEN, and form critical questions that need to be raised. Hold a reasonable discussion.

Oh, pullleeeze.

This fight's been brewing since Roemer got his ass kicked and Dean was given the DNC to build back into the GRASS ROOT ENTITY it's always been BEFORE THE DLC tried to grab the brass ring for the multi-corporations.

This is the reason CLINTON was NOT the Democratic nominee.
That idiotic oxymoron, the DLC.

Talk about triangulation.
This all started with the Clinton machine.
And, then, there's that subject of Mena,Ark
That's never been explained

Another devotee of a failed and mythical "bipartisanship" -- these yahoos understand only two things: lots of money in their pockets from vested interests, and/or being roundly beaten about the head and shoulders with baseball bats!

For now, phone calls, letters, and e-mails with our outrage, people. Then, when the time comes, our votes. Let them know we support the president's agenda (our agenda), and to get out of the way!
02:03 PM on 03/19/2009
I really believe that some restraint concerning how democrats are characterizing democrats would be wise at this juncture.

Do we really need to cast broad dispersions upon fellow democrats - at this particular point in time, when the president is calling for support of his budget?

Let's not forget the role some of these particular democrats played in helping elect the president.
They are not traitors, and they should not be cast with a broad stroke that suggests they are working against the president's agenda.

Rachel Maddow could perform a true journalistic service - by inviting those she frames as "conservadems" to come onto her show, with supporters of the president's budget, where they can discuss their differences and MOVE TOWARDS CONSENSUS.

What does it accomplish to divide democrats by calling for disgruntled former staff members to phone a Maddow hotline to turn on democrats? What are we encouraging here?
Is it wrong for these individuals to have differing opinions, or issues they want to discuss with the president? Why is there such closed mindedness towards diversity of thought?
This is very disappointing.

Some of these individuals were critical in their support in helping the president get elected.
They are not enemies of his agenda.
They should be treated with dignity and respect, and their views listened to.
You may not agree with them, but they deserve our respect.
This is not DICK CHENEY making outrageously disrespectful and divisive remarks!!!
THESE ARE FAITHFUL LOYAL DEMOCRATS TO THE PRESIDENT.

True, True. Why is Evan Bayh and the others so angry at the President? need I ask more?
02:35 PM on 03/19/2009
Well, if I'm wrong, I'll be the first to say so. But I really think you unfairly characterize these folks. I remember Claire McCaskill during the primary battles, and she was outstanding in her support of the president. Just because she may have differing points of views, doesn't make her the enemy, any more than Chuck Hagel or Colin Powell having differeing points of views than we have would make them the enemy. They are good, caring patriotic Americans.

I think that if we truly believe in the beauty of democracy, and are willing to painstakingly go through the challenges that come through dissent, then we must be willing to listen to those whose views may be different than ours. It doesn't cost you anything to listen, to be willing to hear your neighbor's point of view. You won't lose your values, and you may learn something from your neighbor.

How can we ever reach consensus if this is our starting point? ( To use threats, fear, distrust, and hotline reporting numbers to turn in those with whom you have a political beef!!!) It's kind of silly, don't you think? We can do better than this. We ARE better than this. I expect more from democrats. I expect better from Rachel Maddow, because she is a gifted journalist. This is not the best she can do. She is better than this.

I could understand if democrats differed with Obama on Geithner-Summers policies designed to benefits kleptocracy, but health care reform? Who needs Republicans when you have such geniuses in your own party? America needs a viable socialist party to force the political center into alignment with the majority of American people. The senator I respect the most is Bernie Sanders. I like like to see more Bernies and fewer Bayhs.

I welcome good, honest debate but it pains me to know that Republicans are capable of lock step when the RNC Drum plays but Dems can’t even start off in the same direction, EVER!

If I thought they had alternative ideas I think they could be heard but to simply adopt the Republican tactic of Obstruction is painful to watch.

So we are over a barrel with these Dogs right? In order to keep the seats out of Republican hands we will have to back these modern day Brutus’s?

There is still plenty of "Donor Class" money to be scooped up. The late Governor George C. Wallace said it best ladies and gentlemen:
"There ain't a dimes worth of difference between the Democrats and the Republicans."
Every bit as true today as then. Politicians position themselves according to the flow of the contributions.
This is the moment where you break out into singing "I'm proud to be an American..."
