Folks, I refuse to buy into the fear that Obama's bankrupting will make much difference. He is, indeed, bankrupting us.

But we bankrupted oursellves. He's just the figurehead we voted in to propel our fantasy.

Time to adjust to reality.

We couldn't afford a lot of stuff, way back to the Viet Nam war.

We can't afford a lot of stuff now.

This is a natural progression, I assume.

A global power reigns for only awhile.

Then it recedes.

Too bad you didn't come to your "senses" when Bush and the GOP was creating this mess.

Will you guys shut up about Bush already? I couldn't stand that election-stealing Bush either, but he is not the president right now! And the president right now is doing FAR FAR WORSE THINGS to our economy than Bush ever did.

We need mandatory mortgage reduced to 4 to 4.5%, 30 years for ALL mortgages that are current or slighly behind in payments. The banks won't do. Obama won't do it.

The banks still rule the game.

Obama lacks the power to do as you suggest.
01:50 PM on 03/28/2009
Actually, we need 20% down rules reinstated. It's an incentive to save, and a bubble killer-which brings housing stock down.
Cutting rates is how we got into this mess in the first place.
01:56 PM on 03/28/2009
Is it "upside down" day in your dimension?
02:26 PM on 03/28/2009
Brilliant, let's raise interest rates and further depress house prices.

The banks won't help anyone. They don't care about foreclosures. They got bailed out.
The banks gets prime rate of 0%.
01:47 PM on 03/28/2009
Excess out of fashion?!

So is tyranny:

http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200905/imf-advice

To all you poltical 'team members', keep thinking you have allies in gvmt. Keep thinking one side is better than the other. Divide and conquer. While they are robbing you blind, you're too busy playing sides.
01:46 PM on 03/28/2009
I bank at Wells Fargo and if anything they are much more resistant to lend. I have > 800 FICO score and so far this year they cut off my line of credit, the terms of a mortagage refi won't pay for itself until at least 18 months. I am at 6.5%, they offer 5.5%. The ultra low rates will be given to a few people.

Some republicans have called for an executive order to reduce ALL mortgages down to 4.5%
What is wrong with that? Why do the Dems oppose this one approach? The banks won't help us unless they are FORCED too. That meeting on Friday was lip service to the Prez. They will go back to their corporate jets and do whatever they want to do with OUR money. Theu play Obama as a fool.

Obama's still more top down than bottoms up.
01:49 PM on 03/28/2009
You think?

(look who I'm asking)
01:55 PM on 03/28/2009
Try a different, local bank, maybe. The small banks are doing much better.
01:46 PM on 03/28/2009
Big money can do no wrong in the eyes of repubs, that's just a fact.
I dare any repub to call out ANY corporation that cuts pay and bennies and ships jobs overseas.
They can't do it.
01:48 PM on 03/28/2009
Exactly big money is none of big governments biz just stay out of it..
01:49 PM on 03/28/2009
Sorry...

No can do.
01:50 PM on 03/28/2009
We trusted you, and then the economy collapsed. You can't be trusted.
01:49 PM on 03/28/2009
Well, if you think that a business exists to provide jobs, and not make money, I could see how you would think that way.
Unless a "right" to a job is written in the Bill of Rights, maybe I missed it.

These so called "Monsters of the Universe" still do not get it. Laws are vital for an orderly society. The republican politicians like the movie star, pretend president Ronnie Raygun bamboozled the uninformed Americans who were too busy trying to make ends meet and any free time was spent watching drivel shows on TV like the O’Reilly Factor (should be called the O’Really Factor????), or listening to AM radio and drooling over every word from Rush Limpbaughs foul mouth. Their mantra has always been "government is the problem", and tax cuts for the rich are the way to grow the economy. It has been proven wrong over and over again but Americans have such a short attention span (about 15 minutes according to the last Fox Network Poll) and do not study history, that the rich have basically run amuck and pillaged the world. Average people and their children will suffer for years to come because of their excesses, greed and unethical behavior and they could care less. They live in their gated communities, with maids, butlers, etc and laugh at the "little people" while swilling their bourbon at the all white country club. Citizens have allowed this to happen by not voting. People who do not vote are partly responsible for this debacle.

Hmmmmm....let's see...What was the GOP proposal for dealing with our banking system? Wasn't it detailed in depth in their...WOW..."19 Page" 'Road to Recovery' unveiled by Waterworks Boehner?

What were the specific proposals and those specific 'numbers' they listed?
BWAAAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

When the National Review heaps scorn on the GOP leaders' offer as an "embarassment," it's just over for that hideous and laughable party.
