This guy went to Cuba for cancer treatment and seems to be doing OK- Shocking that a third world country has a pretty good healthcare delivery system- Makes you wonder.
01:31 PM on 08/24/2012
Don't worry, if Chavez really has cancer, he'll be dead sooner than you think.
01:32 PM on 08/24/2012
How about being able to provide drugs that are not allowed in the states. Not a healthcare problem. Its an FDA problem.

Universal health care in Costa Rica, Cuba and Saudi arabia, but none in the US. Were such a failure.

"Hugo Chavez Gets Encouraging News"

He's gotten a huge donattion from his "soul brother," Barack Obama to help make certain Chavez is able to remove all remaining vestiges of privately owned businesses, a goal also harbored by Obama!

American democracy is under siege by big money. Chaves not only is the incumbent contestant but also the man with more cash. He does not need the cash to win. The military is willing and able to put him again in power. In America money buys loyalty. Ask any drug dealer.

like anyone has a chance of beating chavez as long as he is alive
the results are already in before the first vote is cast

It's hard for an outsider to really know whether or not Chavez has been beneficial to the majority of the people, or whether his government has continued the corruption of the Venezuelan past. Unfortunately, the oil wealth had never been used to develop industry or agriculture and the majority of Venezuelans lived lives of poverty. If Chavez has changed that, good; if he is just the same old same old, too bad. We have attempted a coup against him once before: perhaps USA interests will be more successful next time.
01:37 PM on 08/24/2012
Here's what Chavez has done to the agriculture industry, he's totally destroyed it. Venezuela used to be a food exporter; today they import approximately 80% of their food. Not only that, but his mafia controls the ports, especially Puerto Cabello, which controls the distribution of food. Because of this, food is left to rot, increasing scarcity, thus increasing the price of food and increasing the profits to Chavez. Today food is scarce and very poor quality in the markets and people are starving. My wife is out shopping right now looking for something that doesn't exist. You also state that we have attempted a coup against him once before. It's funny, I didn't see you there, and maybe you were hiding under the desk with Chavez? If you think that the USA was responsible for the coup you need to research more and talk to the people that were there. The coup was by the people and military of Venezuela. The idea that is was run by the U.S. is nothing more than Chavez paranoia, propaganda, and lies.

Latin American countries like Venezuela used to have leaders like Pinochet in Chile. They were reprehensible tyrants who had bodies upon bodies and children growing up as orphans. Chavez may not be the most moral or ethical man, but he's done a lot more than the previous military tyrants did in much of Latin America as well as some in Brazil and Columbia, who are pawns of the US, and others working in US Sweat shops at 20 cents an hour. Chavez won't have any of that, and while his country is still poor, he won't be part of these horrid conditions that Wal Mart and other cheap retail clothing companies put these children through.

Like Chavez is going to lose. O-Blame-a's ideological equal is going to rig the election , just like Barrack Hussein Obama is going to try to do here. Except he is going to lose by so many votes his cheating won't work.
