Mr. Zogby is hung by his own petard. Americans have seen Hamas and Hezbollah march there suicidal children in parades that demand the destruction of Israel and America. We see the beheadings, the stoning, the acid thrown in young girls faces. We saw the dancing the streets of Palestinians when the towers went down. What we did not see were American Muslims denouncing radical Islam. We did not see that with the same fervor the outcry of the hijacking of a religion by radicals. I would be outraged if the KKK or any violent group tried to hijack Christianity. By in large the lament of Muslims around the world is one brought by the misdeeds of their own leaders. Or should I say lack of leadership. Oil Despots or venal cruel dictatorships. None of this is an American problem. So..until I see with the same fervor of the radicals a total effort of denunciation of radical Islam, his protestations will likely fall on deaf ears.

The KKK highjacked Christianity 100 years ago, what religion did you think they were?

The portions of the Middle East which are Arab and Muslim are highly intolerant of others. Perhaps the karma generated by that has just come full circle?

I tend to worry more about the ignorance among the foreign populations, including the Arab and Muslim-majority nations, concerning Americans.

Some people need enemies like Dentists need teeth. Hatred and ignorance have no place in a moral world. Period.

All we ever hear is that Muslims (Arabs) are victims. There are many good decent Muslims, but there is also a very dangerous, evil fringe.
Until the Muslims themselves start to denounce the radical Muslims, for the danger that they are, many Americans will distrust all Muslims.
If mainstream Muslims can't separate themselves from the radical extremists - why should we?
10:48 AM on 08/27/2012
All radical extremist Muslims are Wahhabi Muslims. This branch of Islam preaches intolerance and inequality unlike the real Islam. Other Muslims such as Sunni and Shia Muslims denounce and criticize Wahhabi Islam and in turn the extremists so we do separate ourselves from them. Every time there is an act of terrorism committed by a Muslim, don't blame Islam blame Wahhabi Islam.

Wahhabi Islam is being spread by petro dollars by the House of Saudi and millions are being spent each year speading Wahhabism all over the world in every madrassa and mosque. The Saudis are radicializing Islam. Example: 25 year ago most women in the mainline Islamic countries did not wear elaborate head coverings. Now there is huge pressure for every woman in even mainline Islamic countries to cover up partly or completely. The way Saudi radicalization of Islam is going Islam will be Wahhabi Islam and the 'moderates' will be a minority. That will lead to an international crisis because Wahhabism is extreme and dangerous and violent. as well a filled by hate.

PS Saudi petro dollars are spreading hate literature all over the world that teaches children to call Jews and Christians pigs and dogs and monkeys. The BBC and Guardian Newspaper did and expose when a huge Regent Mosque and madrassa was found with tons of the stuff including reprintings of the Last Protocols of Zion which is handed out to kids as 'true' ie the blood libel is claimed to be true according to Saudi petro dollars.

When fear and intolerance are no longer the commerce of influence utilized by those in power to communicate with their less informed constitutes, at that point, perhaps we could see a change in these attitudes.

I am a Jewish American and I decry prejudice against Muslims and Arabs. But you must remember that Muslim terrorists, including the perpetrators of 9/11, claim that they are acting in the name of Islam. In the West we haven't witnessed this kind of religion-sponsored terrorisim for two to three hundred years. Until Muslim religious authorities step up to the plate and disavow "religious" terrorism, Muslims will have to put up with fear and rejection.

Your joking right. Sort of like"Onward Christians Soldiers Marching Off to War", catchy tune. And every battle we started during 200 years, we claim "God is on our side".

Not to mention occupation of Palestine to preserve the Jewish State. Religous and racial violence is not limited to anyone group or country. As long as there are men, there will be war.

Being a Muslim is a choice. Being an Arab is not.

Everyone has the right to judge others based on the choices they make. Stop trying to ward off legitimate criticism of Islam by shouting "Racism!" You aren't fooling anyone.

There was a time in America when others were not welcome, I.E.Jews, and Africans Americans..
It takes time, but at the end,Americans get it right..Hopefully, not too much time..
We should all stand together against anyone who is discriminated against.
They came for the Socialist, and I did not speak
I was not a Socialist
They came for the Jews, and I did not speak
I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak..
I have faith in America..

Religion began as a way for people to explain what they could not. Almost all religions have the same basic premise. Each religion grew and changed based on geographical location. The Puritans came to this country to remove themselves from religious oppression. They wished to worship as they saw fit. The USA is a melting pot as many people from the various geographical locations around the world came here, each looking to take part in the freedoms represented by our country. One can find any religion represented in just about every city across the country. Now, we have the radical right - the Tea Party - telling everyone that the USA is no longer a country of religious freedom, but a country controlled by one religious sect. What makes us "better" than Iran in this case? What makes us "better" than Afghanistan? What makes us "better" than another country if we are to be ruled by the religious sects of this country? This is why the founding fathers put in a seperation of religion and state. They did not want to become what they were getting away from; what they saw happening in Europe. It is my opinion that our Republican Tea Party is more afraid of the Muslim world because they are so much alike vs. being so different. Why else would one holler so loudly against another? Look up each religion, read, see for yourself. They are different, but there are MANY, MANY similarities.
