romney team believes the nationwide Hispanic vote is irrelevant

I'm running for office for Pete's sake, we can't have illegals" –Mitt Romney, recalling his reaction when he learned that there were illegal aliens working the ground on his property, employed by a firm that he subsequently fired

The platform makes clear that "we oppose any form of amnesty for those who, by intentionally violating the law, disadvantage those who have obeyed it." It demands that the Justice Department halt lawsuits against Arizona, Alabama and other states that have enacted tough measures against illegal immigrants. It says federal funding should be denied to universities that provide in-state tuition rates to illegal immigrants. It advocates making English the official national language.

Why no mention of Condi Rice's address calling for a "compassionate" immigration law? Now to me this means free coffee and donuts on the bus back to the Mexican border.

Don't you guys get it??? Have you not seen it yet??

Romney/Ryan and Co. are RACIST.

They will not say it out loud, but their actions and attitudes speak volumes. They don not know where to begin courting a non-white vote. Romney is part of a disappearing brand of people--old, white, male, misogynistic, racist, who inherited everything from their fathers, but have a tremendous contempt and disrespect for those who did not inherit from their fathers.

In a way, he is worse and more backwards than George W Bush was. Bush, at least, was not racist. He was many other despicable things, but not racist.

Romney used a Cuban slang word for "vagina" in a radio interview...?

Not since the days of Herman Cain have we witnessed such classic comedy moments.

I almost wish he WOULD win the election because this is the kind of stuff that kept us rolling in the aisles for 8 years with Bush and then right on thru the Republican primaries.

Laughter, after all, is the best medicine, though I doubt it will revive the economy any better than Mr. Romney's flaccid economic plan would.....

What teh article does not consider is that Bush and to a leeser extent, McCain, enjoyed a less hostile environment towards Latinos within the GOP. They could go "eyeball to eyeball" with Hispanics. What would Romney say about "self deportation" when he is eyeball to eyeball with the Hispanics in the current far right environment of the GOP? Bush even tried to pass a Dream Act legislation, but his party revolted against him. Times are very different now, my friend.

OK. I know Mittles has been wearing Costco shirts purchase by his staff so he can claim he is just like us, but what are the chances he is going to go have a beer with anyone. Mormons don't drink. There is NO way they can portray him as a guy someone would want to have a beer with. Who would believe it? Mittles doesn't know how to be a regular guy on any level. He has no experience.

If he thinks a keg of beer will get him the WH, he will drink beer from now until Kingdom Come. Then when faced with his "maker," he will Etch-A-Sketch his way out of his "sin" with lies and spins.

In the article, Frank Guerra states that as Latinos become more "americanized" and affluent, they will switch to the Republican party. I beg to differ. Money and economic success have little to do with a person's political thinking. If that was the case, all successful minorities would be republican. Both of my sons are 5th generation, Harvard educated Mexican-Americans. One is a cardiologist, the other a lawyer. Will they ever espouse the values of the Republican Party? Only if hell freezes over. Their children will be democrats also.

That has been the experience with Japanese in Hawaii. The vast majority of us are middle class or better. Although we are no longer poor or even working class; we still vote Democratic.
