Hope the purveyors of this cheese carry great insurance; who knows what's in that cheese that could make people sick.....

if you bought for the cheese $4/pound when it was made, you would make 100% /per year simple interest. Not bad. My question is: Is it good? No word on that. "Overwhelmingly sharp" doesn't exactly sound worth $160/lb.

Once you have tasted the real thing, it is amazing. If you are used to supermarket cheddar there is no comparison. Like trying to compare a Hyundai and a Ferrari

What kidjudas said.

Supermarket cheese is so lame - practically tasteless.

A good sharp cheddar is so FABULOUS.

Something wrong here. In a world that contains 1000 year old eggs, if 40 year old cheese was a good thing, why wouldn't anybody be doing it on purpose?

Remember when a simple pound of cheese at the grocery store, came in a wooden box?
10:19 AM on 09/01/2012
I do.  My father owned a grocery store when I was a kid and he was also a butcher.

Talk about quality food!  I can still remember the difference in flavors between then and now and he sold his store in the mid-1960s.  Especially on the beef.  The crap they sell now is so horrible.

My ancestors considered themselves meat cutters, not butchers. Fifty years ago,one could eat hamburger right out the display tray. I don't touch any raw meat today without rubber gloves on.

Who cut the cheese??
09:54 AM on 09/01/2012
Cutting the cheese goes with the business.

The cheese would go great with the Reagan era box of saltines I found in the back of my pantry.

An open mind is a good. thing.

Tell that to the Republicans. OOH!, did I just politicize this thread? I'm sorry. But I just could not resist! Actually being obtuse and close minded is not the exclusive right to any political ideology. One of the many reasons why I am an Independent.

I have heard they found something that resembles cheese in Elvis's unwashed underwear, they got a fortune for that at auction!

Should I buy few large chunks of cheese as retirement savings?
07:47 AM on 09/01/2012
I can see it now......"sell your gold and buy cheese".....cheese investment centers and humidors in banks to store cheese.....you may have hit on something here....AND AT THE LEAST....you can eat the cheese, but can't eat the gold.!
