Why lie about a marathon time?

Anybody who knows anything about running knows what a challenge it is to prepare for and run a marathon - finishing is a major victory, after more than 26 miles of self-propelled motion.

Yet .....    Paul Ryan's impulse is to claim an impressive time,  discounting his actual time some 25%.   That isn't fudging the  Read More...

The significance of Ryan Lyin about something this meaningless - I mean what damned difference does it make what his time was? - is that the guy will lie when the truth will do. In other words, he's incapable of tellin the truth at all. Of course to Republicans, not gettin caught in a lie is the same thing as tellin the truth.

Good points. And, by the way, this subject is not completely trivial, on a personal level, for a fitness buff like Ryan.

What Ryan meant he meant, apparently, was that he ran a marathon in two hours fifty seventy-one something. He just wasn’t being entirely explicit, just like with every policy and idea he has (except the ones that are total fictions about Obama.)

What he meant by a 'two hour, fifty something' was a two hour and three times fifty something' time.

My theory for his lie is because he didn't beat Oprah Winfrey's time of 4:29:15

Ryan didn't walk back anything...his staff did. This is trivial...what about the "LIE" about the auto-plant that Obama closed before he was even elected? Or... his charge that the Obama stimulus didn't create jobs when he bragged at home about the stimulus money that he got to create jos in his district? OR... his attack on Obama for having “robbed” Medicare to pay for the new “Affordable care Act” was disingenuous on many levels, the most obvious of which is the fact that the exact same Medicare cuts were replicated in Ryan’s own budget? OR...Ryan, who helped lead the House GOP’s kamikaze-like refusal to raise the debt ceiling, blamed Obama for the harm to the nation’s credit rating? OR...the attack on Obama’s stimulus bill, a large percentage of which was comprised of tax cuts and aid to states to cover the salaries of teachers and law-enforcement workers who would otherwise have been laid off, as “political patronage, corporate welfare, and cronyism at their worst.” This is an individual that appears to be physically allergic to the truth.

If you say that the GOP itself is a nest of liers, than the ones who are not will take offense. It is better to call a lier a lier than to condemn an entire party, who will turn against everything you are saying because they feel personally offended that you have included them...even if what you are saying about Ryan in particular is absolutely true.

A Republican lying about something - I'm shocked, shocked that something like this would happen - well, actually I'm not - I'm just shocked that he would admit to lying about it. The Romney handlers had better have a talk with this boy and let him know that being a Republican means never ever admitting to a lie regardless of how many facts you may be faced with - after all the party that can deny the existence of global warming or George W. Bush can certainly deny anything else that might be an inconvenient truth.

Title should read, "Ryan admits to a marathon of lies."

i don't usually pay much attention to things irrelevant to the election...but if this guy can lie about something as non-important as that..then what can you believe on anything else he says? smh

Paul Ryan is incapable of a true statement. When he opens his mouth to say something, I put one hand on my wallet, and the other on my iPhone to bring up the fact checker. This dide's a Class A git.

The lengths you will go to distract from the real problems. It quite frankly is getting humorous. Seen the HP Electoral College map lately, getting nervous yet?

Yeah. I see it every day. See how Romney's number NEVER goes above 191? You getting the picture yet?

Funny how his claim is called a "fib" by some news organizations and a "lie" by others.
