Can we stop this hallucination!  The government does not and cannot create private sector jobs.

People need to wake up. The corporations are sitting on trillions of dollars, corporate tax rates are lower than during Reagan's term and many corporations play zero federal taxes.  The corporations that are based in this country are trans-national and have no duty to  Read More...   These companies have seen record profits. They are doing better.
The ONLY obligation, of the Board of Directors and CEO of trans-national corporations, is to return profits and dividends.  And that means cutting overhead costs (building, operations, materials, transportation) and  arbitraging labor across the globe, where people will work for a bowl of rice.  That is the new reality.  That's the truth that no one is talking about. If you want the POTUS to create jobs, than you are advocating for a new economic system, mr/miss/mrs republican.

THANK YOU. Stop blaming POTUS for low job numbers - it's the do-nothing GOP-led Congress, more concerned with obstructing a second Obama term than helping the American people recover from this recession caused by corporate greed.

The Republican party has become the Tea party, controlled and funded by the Koch brothers and a few other very wealthy special interests who have taken the party to the extreme right, completely out of touch with mainstream Americans and changing demographics.

"Entitlement spending" is code speak for corporations who need more money to sit on. There is nothing wrong with having medicare and social security, what needs to be done is to remove the cap from social security earnings, and raising the tax that medicare currently pays to 3% instead of the 2.6% now.

"Obama made ANOTHER attempt at job creation last year when he introduced a jobs bill to CONGRESS that economists estimated would create roughly 2 million jobs if passed. CONGRSSIONAL REPUBLICIANS have blocked the bill, advocating AUSTERITY instead." It's no more complicated than this folks.

Prejudice is not a 'value'
11:15 AM on 09/10/2012
This article attempts to come off as "fair" to both sides by saying "blame to go around" yet when you read point-for-point what the ECONOMISTS are saying...the blame lies SQUARELY at the feet of congress!!!

Let's not forget folks... the #1 stated objective of the Repubs has been to thwart this President at every turn and in fact for him to "FAIL". Knowing that the American people (sadly afflicted with memory and common sense deficit) would then blame 'him' for their obstructionist agenda!!!

Here's an idea... KEEP the President (who has worked in good faith to help the American people) and throw out this "do-nothing", obstructionist and TREASONOUS congress. Yes, "treasonous"!!! Working intentionally for your country to FAIL (ie: HURTING those who've elected you to serve), solely for the purpose of destroying your President, is indeed a form of treason and make no mistake a 'soft coup'!!!

"What we’re doing is a radical departure from historical practice," Wolfers said. "We've ended up with Tea Party economic policy."

Yes, a "radical departure" that is DESTROYING our country from the inside out!!! If Obama is to blame... it's for his attempts at conciliation with the militant Tnuts (as USED by corporate multinationals for their gullibility) that have hurt America!!!

Long term problems need long term solutions. Short term problems need short term solutions. It is disingenuous to lump in the long term reform of Social Security and Medicare with the need to address the crisis of unemployment today.

This is really a funny article, without much thought or comprehension of reality included. Quit blaming the minority group involved. It's the majority parties that have spent us to the brink of bankruptcy, not a group of people that have only held any political office for the past two years. Hilariously untrue propaganda.

Good article but they need to replace the government with House Republicans, THAT is where the Tnuts have taken over and refused to do anything to help the economy.

There has not been 4 years of Obama's policy, there has been two. For the past two years not one Obama policy had made it past the Republican House. President Obama owns the turnaround, the Republicans own the stagnation.

A bad recession turning into a depression. BHO had both houses of Congress for two years and still failed. He is killing the coal business in West Virginia and Wyoming. The oil business in Alaska. The lumber business in the Pacific Northwest. And farming in the Central Valley of California. Now you know why there are 23 million people looking for work and 47 million on food stamps.

Then why have we produced more oil with BHO than with any other president to this date in time if he has stopped oil production?

The GOTP Is Disorganized Hypocrisy

Wrong. Domestic oil production has skyrocketed under Obama, and coal production is up. Clean energy, such as wind and solar, are infant industries that will generate non-out sourceable jobs. Obama had two years with both houses and passed the ACA, the Recovery Act, the Autio Bailout and succeeded in preventing the US economy from going into free fall. For the last two years, nothing of substance has gotten done in Congress. Why? The Farm Bill, the Jobs Act, Disaster Relief, all were voted down by the obstructionist GOP in order to get Obama out of the White House. The GOP needs the economy to stay poor. It is against their best interests to do anything to help the economy.

Karl nice try at defending failure. Solar is a bankrupt industry with loans for campaign cash Maddof scam. Read the EPA's comments on oil regulation and vote for sucess of Sports Authority over BHO's Solyndra.

They can stem the long term growth of entitlements by lifting the cap on Social Security and nationalizing health care - including drugs. They can end the oil subsidies and corporate welfare. They can put taxes back to where they were under Reagan. They can get out of the wars now, cut defense in half, and move half of that money into education and science and put the other half onto the national debt.

It's an easy fix. The uber rich and corporate CEOs don't want to let the "free market" work. Fact is we don't want and can't afford to pay them anymore. The need for them is as obsolete as the need for blacksmiths and chimney sweeps, but we can't seem to pry our money out of their cold, dead hands.

Sorry for responding to you here, the page refreshed when I was responding to your last message. The free market is not predatory. It is based on voluntary exchange and mutual consent and benefit. There's nothing predatory about that. Markets make us better off. Think about it :everytime you go and buy bread and milk you say "thank you" and the person who sold it says "thank you" back. That right there captures the genius of the market: you want the milk and the bread more than the money and they want the money more than the bread or the milk. Markets therefore allow for the most efficient allocation of resources and allow people to do what they're best at leading to our diverse needs and wants to be sastisfied.

Now you made a point about rules: I'm all for rules. Force and fraud should be prohibited, people shouldn't be allowed to pollute the sky or our drinking water and contracts should be upheld even when the most powerful party no longer likes the terms. I can understand having issues with aspects of the free market but your wholesale rejection is bizzare. Even pretty left-wing economists like Paul Krugman think the market is, by and large, the best way to go about organizing things.

They also say, nice weather - so what.   What buyers want and what they can afford is totally different.   Everybody wants health insurance and is quite willing to say thank you to the person trying to sell it to them; but if the market has priced them out, they are SOL.   You make capitalism sound like a friendly game of nickel/dime poker, when it is a high-stake game.  The market charges the most it can because it is all about profits - not service.    If the less fortunate can't afford food, health care, housing - too bad.        Nobody is opposed to "markets".  I'm telling you that "free" markets are predatory, don't exist, can't exist and shouldn't exist.
You are naive.   Just because it would be nice if everyone was fair and considerate doesn't mean everybody will or can be.
