Basically the only thing he really stands for is banks and big campaign checks. He won't let any party platforms get in his way, to do like Mitt, and say whatever it is he thinks will get him past the election. If elected, he will be just another EtchaSketch Republican, and you can be sure he will be kowtowing to Republican McConnell on any vote that is close.

He likes to say he is an independent,  Read More...

Republicans do not seem to understand that keeping civil rights from one group, and revoking legal, civil and constitutional civil rights from another group, may not be appealing to their constitutency. Their quest for power and control has gotten WAY out of hand. why don't they concentrate on jobs like they promised?

Because even a tiny look at the conservative movement's record on jobs would destroy all their claims. How can conservatives create jobs, when they've already shown all they ever do is destroy jobs?

The current GOP acts more like a crime syndicate than a political party. They have been intentionally trying to crash our economy, block job creation, and kill health care reform that millions of Americans need. For their next act they have promised to hand Social Security over to Wall Street, pull the plug on guaranteed senior healthcare, and decimate funding for children, nursing home residents, and the disabled. It is all about power and money for the rich, nothing about what is best for Americans.

I totally agree.  I have been more anxious about this election than any in a fairly long life.  This has been creeping up on us, and it seems now they are going in for the kill!

Scott Brown is another one who's trippin'. "Met with kings and queens" Like that's remotely important to his office as senator. They really need Warren. Hope she wins.

If the goal ofthe Mass GOP is to ensure more republicans get elected, accepting the national GOP's 14th century platform is one way to guarentee it doesn't happen. That the conversation is even happening in Mass is a sign of how out oftouch the GOP is with the people they want to represent.

Scott Brown is a Republican. And now that his "trial term" in Massachusetts is over, if reelected he will walk in lock-step with the other Republicans for a long, long six-year term.

ELIZABETH WARREN FOR SENATE

If he gets re-elected it will be a lot more than 6 years. Massachusetts has a record of re-electing people as long as they wantthe job.
11:53 AM on 09/14/2012
My guess is that, if he gets re-elected, he will be marked by the GOP as an excellent presidential candidate due primarily to his strong chin, poofy hair, and general "elect-ability". And his term will be marked by votes and speeches designed to play well in the 2016 republican primaries.

Brownie is a RINO. You think they want to pick another McCain or Rmoney for their 2016 candidate? We already know who the Goop is picking- Jeb Bush. Conservatives want to double down on their 30 years of failure and fraud.

In response to a tweet from Boston Phoenix reporter David Bernstein about why both reporters couldn't be allowed in the room, Buckley said that because Ebbert had already written two stories on the platform issue, he wanted to make sure everyone had their "fair share."

That is the dumbest rationalization I have ever heard for barring a reporter from a meeting. Hands down, the dumbest.
12:03 PM on 09/14/2012
One phrase: freedom of the press. That doesn't mean only let in reporters who will tell what YOU want them to report. A free press is to keep us informed about what is happening. If that scares you, you shouldn't be in any position of power. Do these people pick which ones of the Bill of Rights should be protected. I thought all ten were part of the Constitution. Doesn't the President have to swear to uphold all of them? Why, then, would we elect a man whose party doesn't do that?

Fox News has the right to refer to itself as a news channel, but it's all just right-wing opinions and poofy blonds. Not much there in the way of hard news reporting.

The very fact that they have to debate it in public is embarassing for sure. But I can't believe it will sway voters to or from Brown.

It's a tough race but Warren is SOO Superior a Senate Candidate that it is laughable!

You do understand that a average-looking woman "of a certain age" has a severe handicap against a guy who could pass for a Brooks Brother's model.

So unfair, and yet all too true.

That she's really competitive is a sign of how amazing her Cred is

Let them, I say. It will become that much easier to unseat them. Except for may one or two congressional districts, a Massachusetts Republican must be moderate to have a prayer.

I'm almost ready to think the Republican Party is infiltrated with Democrats. I cannot believe that loyal Republicans would self-destruct their party the way they are today..............but I'm not complaining! Obama/Biden in November.

It is unbelievable. Lies, restriction of freedoms protected in the Constitution, hiding information that is so bad that you know it will cost you votes if released seems to be the Republican way now. Republican for Obama.

Sure Scott Brown says he's for gay marriage, and is pro-choice - but when the GOP comes calling, you dance their tune. Warren has tried to tie Brown to Romney/Ryan - easier to connect him with his overlords the GOP and big money. The first important vote Warren will make as senator is for Democratic committee chairmen.

It's really laughable to see the mental gymnastics the poor GOPers are going through this election cycle...."yes, I'm conservative..sorta...but I'm pro-choice....kinda...but I really, really am a loyal Republican...when it's convenient...except when I don't think it will get me elected...."

It's awfully hard to keep one foot on first while trying to steal second base. Brown is going to end up with a hernia.

The Republican national platform is not "one of the most conservative in modern history," it is the most extremist, out-of-the-mainstream platforms since the birth of democracy. Calling it "conservative" is an insult to real conservatives and gives them credit for being in the mainstream when they are so outside of the mainstream they are like being on a different planet.

And yet all the polls suggest a close race? Are the polls fixed and just used to convince us that most Americans are brain dead? Is it so they can get the impression of being close enough to steal the elections?
